Cards reach deal with cornerback Hood
Darren Urban, Tribune
The Cardinals agreed to terms with a third free agent Saturday, bringing in cornerback Roderick Hood on a five-year deal worth about $15 million.
Hood will compete with Eric Green for a starting spot opposite Antrel Rolle.
Hood played the last four seasons with the Eagles after signing with Philadelphia as an undrafted free agent out of Auburn. In 2006, Hood played in only 10 games because of injury, making five starts and recording one sack. He had a career-high three interceptions in 2005 when he started six of 16 games.
The Cardinals have already signed center Al Johnson and free safety Terrence Holt to free agent deals.
Vice president of football operations Rod Graves said the Cardinals will continue to "keep our eyes open for opportunities" in the free agent market.
The Cardinals are still having discussions with free agent offensive lineman Mike Gandy. The team is also expected to sign one or two lower-end free agents later in the summer.
Now if we can get some kind of pass rush our defense may improve this year ....
At this point he is the best coverage guy we have on this team. He's not a world-beater but has potential and helps out with depth.
have we ever signed someone who said. "Well I don't like Arizona but they paid me the most" ???
You don't know that.
And I agree with swd, this is a minor signing for depth.

Yes. Pete Kendall.

Cards are said to be expected to re-sign Beisel. With all the articles saying the Cards don't have much money left, I'm guessing we are probably done with free agency.
I'd like to see us try to re-sign Monty Beisel for cheap if possible. He did a good job in a scab role last year, and I haven't heard much about him visiting other teams.
I like this move .. Beisel showed some heart last year when filling in ...Cards are said to be expected to re-sign Beisel.
Hood will sign a five-year deal worth $15 million, including a bonus of $2.5 million and a salary of $1 million the first year.
If Hood becomes a starter, he could earn as much as $23 million during the contract.
