Better off silent
Pretty much disagree with a lot of this. My biggest issue is in not identifying with the apes, and the only main humans weren't developed well.Didn’t care about any of the characters except the wannabe Maurice and the new “Caesar”, who was a solid bad guy that I wanted more of. Outside of the lack of characters I cared about, most of the movie looked like CGI Apes in CGI landscapes. REALLY disappointing considering how great the apes looked in real world sets/settings.
Overall, was a massively far cry from the Caesar Trilogy and a big ball of meh. At best. That said, it’s getting pretty good reviews and a lot of the pods/reviewers I listened to and normally agree with thought it was solid, so it’s probably still worth a watch for those who want to see it.
That said, really good cgi is defined by 3 main things: water, hair, and eyes. Having all 3 is the CGI slam dunk. This one had ok versions of 2 of the 3, but the eyes sold this one big time for me. Pretty amazing work by the animators.
