don't worry, after next year's failure and the Knicks have the $ to sign either Howard or Paul to go with Amare and Melo, he'll be fired and Phil will probably come out of retirement to take over and probably start winning titles at a disgusting rate again.
That is an excellent prediction. After his massive successes in Chicago and L.A., it would complete Phil's cycle to return to where it all began as a 6'8" backup Forward on the Knicks.
He missed their whole '69-'70 championship season (his third season) with a back injury, but came off the bench regularly for the Knicks in succeeding years, including their only other championship in '72-'73.
Who knew, as we watched a gawky backup Forward at the Garden, that he would one day become the NBA's premiere Coach?
Jackson was traded to the Nets in 1978 for Micheal Ray Richardson, for his final two seasons. Two 1st round picks were also exchanged.
I'll bet he would love to end his coaching career back with the Knicks. Especially when he leads them to their first NBA championship in about forty years.
