If we could somehow get Kobe without giving up Nash and Amaré, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
I wouldn't worry about Kobe's need to hog the ball for 48 minutes.

After years of losing and all eyes on him, I'd bet he'd do everything to win a championship with his new team.

I never understood all the "trade-Marion-talk" and stoped reading at some stage.
However, this is the first one (ok, I wouldn't mind KG either) that would be fine with me.

Nash, Kobe and Amaré - not fair!

I agree with everybody to call the Lakers just in case. Marion, Diaw, Barbosa, ATLs pick in 2008 and 2 more first rounders...

Just for dreaming, we'd have a lineup of
Nash
Bell
Bryant (shouldn't bother him to play SF)
Stoudemire
Thomas

Kurt would make up for Marion's rebounds, while Bryant isn't the worst either.
I would really hate to see Shawn and Leandro go and wear the Lakers colours, but right now, I'd do it for such a HUGE title shot.

Get the trophy and trade him back to L.A.! ;-)

Now, (1) which team could offer a trade that help the Lakers win immediately? (2) Which one could offer the most potential?

Ad (1), Suns trade Nash/Marion/Bell and either LB or Atl's 08 pick for Kobe/Farmer/Evans/Mihm(or Turiaf). This would put the Lakers into 2nd round of playoff immediately for the next 2 seasons. After that they have tons of cap to lure FAs plus the long term talent of LB/Atl-pick.

(2) either Portland with Randolph/Roy + future picks at core for Kobe or Bulls with Gordon/Thomas/Sefolosha/Duhon + future picks.

Screamin' A Smith's show

It's apt monikers like this that offer redeeming value for you as a Lakers fan, D. That one fits well.

My wife watched a Smith show once with me and concluded he tries to exaggerate his East Coast black credentials because he has nothing of real value to say ... faux verve.

Nash/Kobe would be a complicated back court. They both excel with the ball in their hands. They both can disappear without it, although I think Nash is more capable of adjusting than Kobe.

What about Marion and our two first round picks this year for Kobe, I know the Lakers will want more but that may be the best offer they get. Marion still has some star power and they pick up two picks in a deep draft, the Suns will still have two number ones in the Draft next year which i believe is going to be the best PG draft that I can ever remember...

My guess is it's someone in the FO...probably with the last name of Buss...maybe to deflect a little attention away from a certain DUI arrest.

Doubtful if it is Jerry...if so it would be the biggest news in Laker history...he's never been two-faced.

Jim Buss is my guess because he would force an "I have to leave" feeling from Kobe since Jim will take over from pops. If it were Mitch, Kobe'd say that you'd need to get a new GM...but he says there's nothing they can do. I'd be SHOCKED to death if it were Jerry, and saddened. I'd be upset if it were Jim, but he's a failed horse trainer to start with and his tennis thing sucked too. He has issues. It wouldn't be Jeannie or Phil, IMO. And if it were Mitch he should be torched (though he would be my second choice).

Jim
Mitch
John Black? (their pr guy)

Hope to God it isn't Jerry.

Dan Patrick says he knows who the Insider is...Wilbon and him talking and Wilbon says he feels Kobe is using his leverage here to force West in. That won't work, IMO. He doesn't think Kobe's going anywhere.

If they took Marion, Barbosa and Bell and Atlantas unprotected pick next year for Kobe and Kwame. I'd take that.

The Lakers would be respectable as well

Bynum
Odom
Marion
Bell
Barbosa

They might just be better than what they are now, of course they would have to trade Phil Jackson for Mike D'Antoni as well.

We would have

Brown/Thomas
Amare/Diaw
Hill/#24/Jones
Kobe/Rose/#29
Nash/Banks

That's a very bad offer and they definitely would get better. I don't see Marion doing well as a #1 and he's not even close to Kobe and 2 late picks won't really make this a good trade. Some East teams will offer better than that.

The trade I'd be ok with would be something like Ray Allen, filler and the 2 (Durant). Ray, Odom, Durant...better than nothing. :(

Since Seattle may move anyway maybe it's out there. Although I'd have a very hard time rooting for Jesus...he bugs me.

1. Durant isn't going anywhere
2. Teams like Seattle would have no interesst in trading for Kobe, they are rebuilding, Kobe isn't all that young and Kobe would want no part of any rebuilding team.

What it comes down to is if the Lakers can get a good offer from a team that thinks they can contend with anyone and Kobe would be happy with.

I don't even think Gordon is better or more talented than Barbosa. QQ

I'm not arguing talent necessarily. I just think Gordon provides the flair LA likes in a player... showtime.

What would be scary is if Kobe goes to Portland and is teamed up with Oden. It would be pretty easy to send him there for Randolph, Roy & filler.

Randolph and Roy isn't much value..

Randolph questionable attitude, health, size and monster contract don't make him very valueable.

Roy was the ROY but lets be honest, it wasn't anything to rave about. Not sure he would even be a lottery pick this year.

BTW, Kobe has a $13 million trade kicker on his contract as well.

It will be tough to move him....

I'm going to say no deal gets done, and the front office does something to appease him.

If Kobe wants out bad enough, he can renegotiate...

So, Aldrige is certainly available for Kobe. Except for Oden, Lakers could pick anything they want, as long as they leave Blazers with a reasonable roster to compete long term.

Kobe can waive the trade kicker if he wants to be traded.

Even if he can (which I don't think he can...he can waive his non-trade clause) he still won't waive either for a deal that doesn't leave him on a contender in the end. I'm not sure I see that out there (at the moment).

this will sound like blasphemy, but if I'm the Suns, the only untouchable is Amare.

Nash, Marion and the Hawks pick for Kobe.

That gives us:

Kobe
Raja
Grant Hll (hopefully)
Amare
KT

Barbs
Diaw
James Jones
whatever drek LA needs to send to balance out the cap swap.

That team KILLS everyone in the league - maybe not this year, but it sure does for the next 4 after that. You have the best defensive backcourt in the league, two UNSTOPPABLE scorers with Amare and Kobe playing inside and out and it's BIG, BIG, BIG.

Nash is in his last year of peak performance and after that, the future is really questionable. If you have a chance to pair Amare and Kobe, you do it - PERIOD.

And D-Dogg, Seattle would laugh you off the face of the planet with your proposed deal. With Allen alone, they've already gotten farther than any team Kobe Bryan'ts ever led. And Durant is gonna be a mega-star. They would have ZERO interest in Kobe for that price.

Randolph 23.6ppg, 10.1 rpg, 2.2 assists, 0.78 steals
Roy 16.8 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 4.0 assists, 1.18 steals

For

Kobe 31.6 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 5.4 apg, 1.44 spg

Change in Portland = -8.8 ppg, -8.8 rpg, -0.8 apg, -0.52 spg

and that's not including any filler Portland could throw in.

staying with the Lakers leaves him with a deal where he ain't on a contender - and HE'S PUBLIC ENEMY NUMBER 1. Not exactly a consolation prize there.

Not sure the Lakers would want Nash, but you can be sure that D'antoni isn't trading him for anyone.

I think Kobe/Kwame for Marion/Barbosa/Thomas/Atlanta Pick is a pretty decent deal.

Like I think with Kevin Garnett, if we really wanted to trade for a player I think we can offer more than anyone else simply because we are the most talented team and have more trading chips than anyone else.
