My point is that the word doesn't hold that same connotation for many people, who simply use it as a form of jerkface ***** (offensive as it is to a certain group of people). Still not right, still shouldn't be used, but also is not meant in the way it would be if said to a gay kid in the halls of a high school.

That could be true, though it's hard to imagine anyone who truly supports gay people in their private life using that word in the heat of battle. But maybe it's good that folks are talking about it.

I liked this thread much better when we all acknowledged that Kenyon Martin was an uber-douche.

You are wiggling like a worm in the sun. :)

Ok dokie, as soon as I have the cache of Kobe Bryant, or when I have to power to tell other Kobe Bryants what to do (because you know, those big guns are always loving to be told what to do), then I'll get right on your little strawman challenge. Between now and never, you'll have to address the core points without silly games.

That work for you? ;)

and let's not forget that kobe has already tried the fake tough guy routine as well ... his attempt at being hard because "he's from philly" ended up with him in tears when he was reminded that he was just a little mainline ..... well, insert your own insult

Nobody buys that, not even Kobe. He knows he grew up in Italy as a middle class nerd.

Kenyon does think he's hard. Hard as a pillow.

No - kobe defintiely has the uber-douche factor of fake hard guy

self appointed nickname, idiotic oversized tats (although he did avoid the neck tat - so kudos to him), chest pounding too frequently, that stupid undershot bite sneer he tries to do .... the blantant cheap shot elbows while avoiding any real contact

he may not be k-mart, but he's definitely fairly close ... in fact it's probably his upbringing that is presenting him from going full circle and the fact that he spent the early part of his career trying to be the ultra nice gee shucks i'm taking brandy to the prom kind of kid ........ if he actually did grow up in philly he'd probably look a lot more like k-mart (or have been crippled as a youth by a legit thug the first time he tried his fake crap)

heck, even chase utley who will not win any machismo awards handled his all-star booing without resorting to tears

YOU stay on topic (see thread title if you are unsure).

Kobe Bryant is worse than Kenyon Martin.

YOU stay on topic (see rtft if you are unsure). We've already acknowledged Kobe's douchiness. This thread is, has been and always will be about the douche-quotient of Kenyon Martin. Clearly.

Yeah, Kobe wears too much finger jewelry to be hard like Kenyon. Or Raja Bell.

That's true. Nobody wants to sanitize the game, but personal slurs just cross the line. Though if he called the ref a "lazy fat white man" that might have been OK. :)

Or if he called a fan a "fat effing white boy."

Oh wait...that was Kenyon Martin. After he told his posse to go kick a heckler's ass.

And to set the record straight:

I didn't invent the scarecrow - Donald is the one who brought his workplace into the discussion.

actually...

What do you think would happen if you called one of your co-workers a ****** to their face? I'd guess that unless you can twirl a basketball on your pinkie you'd be fired in about 2 minutes.

And furthermore, on topic, who else thinks that the Birdman looks like something from a comic book nowadays?

New and exciting things, please. Let's not rehash the old stuff from when the Suns used to beat the Lakers in the playoffs.

He's done plenty of new and fresh douchy things for you still to contribute to the thread about Kenyon Martin, JR. Smith and Turdman.

Birdman kicked a heroine addiction... that instantly makes him tougher than Kobe and Kenyon any day of the week.

Note, I didn't call him a douche.

Just a cartoon character. He's getting shockingly close to being completely drawn in.
