Arizona Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt had some good news for fans of the quarterback competition, letting reporters know after Tuesday's practice at Missouri Western State University that he expects Kevin Kolb to be able to play on Friday.

"I think he'll be fine, today he was a little stiff," Whisenhunt said. "It's only two days from the game, so I think as we progress he'll probably do something tomorrow and I expect him to play Friday night."

Kolb left Sunday's game with a rib injury and had been questionable for their next game until now.

Whisenhunt also said that while he's not sure if he will play Friday or not, rookie running back Ryan Williams has shown significant signs of improvement.

"He played well today. I was very impressed with Ryan. His knee was bothering him a little bit but he pushed through it today," Whisenhunt said. "That's what you have to do when you're going back from one of these injuries. I saw Ryan grown up as a pro a little bit today and that was encouraging."

With Skelton getting the start in Friday's game, look for Kolb to come off the bench and try to make a better impression than his 1-for-4 night with four yards and an interception on Sunday.

I got a text from Verizon Wireless NFL Mobile this morning that said "ARI: Will Kolb ever start again?..." I clicked the link, but the page didn't exist. Did anyone else get this?

I do hope Kolb can rejuvenate my stance on him, but I don't think anyone can stand by him without him getting hurt. C-mon man, a pick and a injury to start out, I know it's early but C-mon man.

Man, I was really surprised at how much I was pulling for Kolb when I turned the game on the other night. I mean yeah, I bag on him all the time, but I figured him stepping up his game could only be good for this team. Then he threw the pick on his first pass. Ugh!

I think we were all rooting for him at the start of that game. Not for his benefit, but for ours. If he's a bust, he gets to laugh all the way to the bank. I'm sure that $20 million so far from the Cards organization takes away a lot of the sting of failure.

Maybe that's his plan--to suck so bad he can just retire via being cut with all his millions.

It will be interesting to see how Kolb plays coming off the bench. Skelton seems to thrive in those situations. Much more so than when he is the starter.

It's why I've written a couple of times that Kolb should play the first 3 quarters and then bring in Skelton if we need to catch up in the 4th. Double Deuce being sort of our Jose Valverde.

Cutting him isnt really an option. Unless we have about 5 mil to work with it would screw up our cap because of the remaining guarantees.

Truly an egregious throw too Stout. Shockingly bad.

With your job on the line, that's the best you can do? Really?

Not giving up on him yet, and I'll probably be one of the last on the KK bandwagon (if he crashes and burns), but man, these are dark days for the Kolb faction.

Its a very bad sign for the throw when the moment it leaves the QB's hands the announcer says "UH OH!", and you can hear the sideline mic picking a player yelling "PICKED"... all while the ball is in flight.

I think he makes the team this week or is traded. Who would want him???? But he must perform this week.

If I remember correctly, Kevin Kolb had a couple of great games as an Eagle. I wonder if the coaches have sat down with him, watched the tapes of those games and figured out what he is doing differently? I did hear that he is more suited for the West Coast offense, and not the Cardinal offense. If that is true, why?

A lot of bad QBs have had big games, especially before the league has a good bead on them. Such as figuring out that Kolb will roll right and drop back too far on 75% of his plays whether he is pressured or not (he did this as an Eagle too).
