Yes, I would like to see him come back.

I think all the points are made - he knows the offense and the personnel and did OK today (although provided some nail-biting moments). And in his defense, he never got to play with the stablized OL until today.

He wont know the offense bob. At least I hope not. SHould be a completely new system in place.

Yeah, I was thinking about that when I made the post, but we already have a few debates on if Denny and/or Kruczeck will be back. You are right of course if they start from scratch next year.

I think Kurt shared in making the line look bad too, because as soon as Leinart was inserted as the starter the line magically started playing better. The running game really took off after the changes, but the pass blocking improved when Leinart took over. Kurt wasn't totally to blame, but he did hold onto the ball too long, that is, when he was actually able to still hold onto the ball.

I believe the running game also took off when Edge and the OL finally "gelled" together.... It took awhile for the OL to also learn the nuances/niches to create more space for the Edge.... Also, Denny for better employing the likes of Femi and Wakefield better.... If Edge had a more effective lead blocker all season, he would be closer to 1500 yards rather than 1100.....

It's all moot since regardless... Leinart obviously will be the starting QB from here on out....and the Cardinals wont eat up the remaining 2-yrs of Warner's contract and then sign a quality veteran in the process....

It's hard to say we should give a lot of credit to Kruczek compared to what a scape-goat Rowen was for the early season woes..... Mainly because Green is still calling the plays (however with Leinart being granted more of a chance to audible at the line when he sees best fit)......

I dont think anyone on the current coaching staff will return if Green is fired since the Cards still havent exhibited the necessary level of consistancy at each facet of the game with any decent frequency.... Plus, they still lack that killer instinct which is something that havent had in quite awhile... It's about time to bring in a young upstart coach to turn the Cardinals around.. and hopefully whoever that is will surround himself with a bunch of offensive/defensive minded gurus who will finally coach-up the players rather than inhibit their abilities....

There isn't a "completely new" system anywhere in the NFL. It's all variations off of the same themes. Warner would learn any new system faster than most. I can't think of any on that list who would be better in that regard.

The fact that the niners were able to come back somewhat in the second half certainly wasn't all Warner's fault. Some bad penalties stalled a drive and our special teams decided to do their best to let the niners back in.

The running game didn't look too bad on the final series when we ran out the clock. Also remember a third down conversion when Warner hooked up with Fitz after rolling away from pressure. I will take him as our backup in a heartbeat.

Name someone who would be a better backup next year. And if the words John and Navarre come out of your mouth your arizona sports fanship should be revoked jk.

This sums up my feelings. Memories must be short to want John Navarre an injury from playing.

I thought color analyst Jesse Palmer on Sunday's broadcast did a fantastic job and I don't praise color analysts lightly. In a nutshell, he said this offense (and offensive line) is finally coming together and getting productive. It would a crying shame to change systems at his point IMO.

If Kurt is content to be the backup, the Cardinals would be foolish to cut him IMO. I just spent part of Christmas eve watching Chris Weinke "lead" the Carolina offense. Believe me, you don't want someone of that caliber backing up Matt next season.

I hope Warner does not retire and comes back next year. He is a class person and I like him as the backup.

Absolutely Warner should be back. What scares me is if both he and Matt get hurt and Navarre has to come in.

Those are the 2007 QB free agents. The only one I would want over Warner is Schaub and he will be a starter somewhere. I have faith that if need be Warner could come in but Matt Leinart is the starter and its fine.[/quote]

thank you for publishing the list....without doubt he should be back for a million reasons after looking that list over....he worked from a disadvantage when we played musical linemen albeit in the long run it was the best thing that happened for the team...we have many bigger issues than to put another one on our plate...he is as good or in most cases better than anyone on the list...

Did anyone catch Jesse Palmer say during the game that with Warner in it gave the Cardinals a more moble QB? That Leinart was a pocker passer.

Am I correct that Warner's remaining two years are not guaranteed but the Cardinals would have to eat the remainder of his signing bonus if he were cut? How much would that be? How much is his pay next year? If he retires, will the Cardinals have to eat the rest of his signing bonus?
I hope he stays.

Good locker room guy, like another QB coach on the sidelines and in the heirarchy of backup qbs -- there are a bunch worse to come in if you need a guy who gives you a chance to win

I think its hard not to like Kurt Warner--he seems like a genuinely good person, we haven't heard a peep out of him about getting benched.

He still has the ability to be a solid back-up QB. Who could we possibly get out there in FA who would be better suited for that role?

As for Navarre and the #3 QB position??? eh?

Kurt did fine Sunday. Lets see what happens Sunday against the chargers.

I wouldnt mind seeing Warner back because hes the best possible backup qb we could get who knows this offense and as long as he knows Leinart is the starter next year unless he gets hurt.

I was going to start a thread about how much Warner sucks nowadays, but I think there are enough threads and I can include this conversation here.

Anyways, I was a BIG TIME supporter of signing him last offseason and I have since been very underwhelmed by his performance. When he went in for the 2nd half, our entire offense essentially shut down and if he had played the first half, I doubt we would have even been in a position to win. I don't know what it is. He had that one great 3rd down pass to Fitz, but everything else was absolutely atrocious.

Maybe it's his pre-snap step back that tips the D off so they can get off the ball right at the snap. Maybe it's his lack of an ability to change the play. I don't know what it is, but everything just comes to a screeching halt when he is under center.

With that said, I don't know how much I would want him around to tutor Matt. I don't want Matt to pick up Kurt's bad habits (especially the pre-snap step). Kurt's days are behind him clearly. He can't read coverages, he can't hold onto the ball, he can't adjust, he seemingly locks onto his target and he just can't command the huddle. I don't know if there's anything better out there, but I dont think that we really could do any worse. I hope that something presents itself. What about Billy Volek? If there is anything to Plummer coming back, that would be great by me. I think that we seriously need to look at a 2nd and 3rd QB option this offseason....
