I strongly disagree with this. Yes it was a deep launch through double coverage to the endzone, but he threw it in a spot where it was right to Fitz. The pass to Boldin is what it was, a TD pass. That shouldn't be saved either. IMO He wasn't excellent, but by any normal stadards he played a great game and so did the rest of the team. JMO

Semantics maybe, but to me you don't play a great game without playing excellent. I just don't see how you can in one sentence say he wasn't excellent, but later on say that he played great.

Kurt, overall, wasn't horrible. But he wasn't great, at best he was average. Made some good throws, made some bad ones, and really had some bad stretches.

But, like I've said, he came up huge in the 4th.

So, you'd give him a C/C+ and I'd give him a B/B+. Lets just agree to disagree.

When the game was on the line, he put three passes right where they had to be to clinch the victory. That was clutch, and I really don't care about anything else right now.

And not one mention of the o-line's struggles being a direct result of Warner's early struggles. Or am I to understand that he was just missing wide open receivers?
which was a jump ball in double coverage
Wrong. It was a 50 yard pass to the back corner of the end zone over two defenders, neither of which had a chance at the ball and Fitz made a good catch. That ball was very well thrown and to imply a jump ball? How is it a jump ball when Fitz never broke stride and the defenders didn't have a shot at it?
Earlier you say that the pass to Urban hit him in the chest, then once sentence later say "ok, maybe it hit him in the shoulder..." Really? Where'd it him? I think it should have been caught, but it was not a good pass, and it got picked off.
No, I said it hit him in the chest on his back shoulder side. And if he'd have had his head around and caught it with his hands it wouldn't have been off at all. Over the middle in traffic like that you want the receiver catching it right in the middle of his body not lead him out front where it can go off his hands.
Also, you say 30 points, but 9 of them are not of the offense's doing.
Is he not the leader of the team? He was the QB of the team that scored 30 points. He led them. I didn't say he engineered 4 TD drives.
The throw to Urban was to his back shoulder - while it should have been caught was a bad throw.
No, it wasn't. It hit him in both hands in the chest/shoulder area. It wasn't a perfect throw but a "bad" throw? If the receiver should have caught it, how is it a bad throw? 2 hands on it right in front of his face.
Boldin was WIDE OPEN and it was only a 6 yard pass. The rest was Boldin. I'm not giving credit to Warner for Boldin's YAC.
I know. Doesn't every other QB in the league get credit for short passes that turn into TD's? So the pass to Fitz doesn't count because there were 2 defenders in the area and the pass to Boldin doesn't count because it wasn't 70 yards in the air. Do you guys even hear what you're saying?
At one point in the first half Warner was a mere 5 - 13 but 2 of those were the long passes to Boldin and Fitz.
??? I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. Warner didn't complete a high percentage but had Arizona up 14-3?
We tell it like it is. You view things as a homer. He played fairly well and I think he can play a helluva lot better
BS. You guys are nit-picking a really good day by Warner and not even taking into account the situation. 95+ rating in the playoffs and for all intents and purposes a mistake free game. He scrambled for a first down, didn't take any sacks, didn't fumble, threw the ball away and played smart all day, didn't have Q the whole 2nd half not to mention making some huge throws to close out the game and you guys are being critical.

You guys should be congratulating me for my guy and because he didn't complete 70% of his passes it's a bad game. He started 5 of 13? Well, that means he finished 14/19 when things mattered most. Yeah, I'm just a homer.

C'mon - I am not the biggest Warner fan but the pass to Fitz was on the dime! Pic was not Warner's fault - we won!

P.S. Anyone want to guess who the highest rated QB was today? Rookie of the year? Highest rated QB in the league? The <ahem> MVP? Too bad the Cardinals don't have one of those guys.

You know, most of us are saying Kurt played alright today, some good, some bad.

You're the only one trying to convince everyone that he played great.

Good luck with that.

If that's what you think you need to re-read the thread.
Nope... I think Warner left somethings to be desired.
Warner was bad today,
They'll need better if they are to have any kind of chance next week.
But to say he had a good game is off, since he really didn't.
so hopefully Warner doesn't take 3 and a half quarters to warm up.
As for Warner, I'd say he played about average.

Better than Rivers. Better than Manning. Better than Ryan. Further indications that some Cardinals fans just have unreal standards when it comes to what is expected from Warner.

You are getting too upset about this after a playoff win. Enjoy the win. Also, you indicated we should be congratulating you for your guy. Why would we congratulate you?

I would also be in the catagory that Warner had a great day. He as the QB led and executed a great game as has been laid out in other posts in this thread. The nit picking at Warner is just that. He was a huge part of a great game by the Cards. It is not like they were playing the Lions...some times you idiots forget that in your begruding of any good comments to Warner. This was a playoff game and when the team needed big plays they got them...many from Warner especially in the 4th qt but also in the 1st half. You need to get over your simmering hate for the guy and enjoy the ride. It was 10 years since the last playoff win and it might be 10 more if Edge, Warner, Boldin, Dansby find a way out of town. Warner was truly a PLAYOFF QB today but I wouldn't expect the ninnys here to understand that. Good win Cardinals....lets find a way to have the same intensity on the road next week. GO CARDS!!!

Warner played a good game today. He had a running game to help him out, and I think it was Sando that blogged the stats of his passes on play action and the flick...perfect QB rating there. Shows what the threat of the run can do for a good QB like Warner.

With that said, he's going to have to be lights out...far better than he was today...for us to win on the road vs. NY or Carolina. He is key...and he better be ready to juice it up like the Rams days if we want to get to the NFC Title game.

Which we are ONE WIN AWAY FROM!!!!

That's true for any QB tho.

I wouldn't say "lights out," but it would take a better performance from the whole team for sure.

I don't want to be congratulated for my favorite player's results, but it'd be nice if he could finish the season on a strong enough note that he's our starter going into next year if he wants to continue to play. Maybe that's too much to ask tho.

If we have a real good showing next week I think him being back next year is a lock. If he isn't he will be getting some big bucks somewhere.

I don't understand the bashing of warner either. I can understand the fans that love warner and get excited about him. but the bashing is a bit perplexing. he is a great QB....maybe not as good as he was with the rams.....but he's still very good. I thought he played very well today especially in the second half. and again he's a different QB when he has a running game. if that running game doesn't show up next week expect a long day. if it does expect a close game.

I was pissed that the Cards went away from the running game, it was working so well.

My guess is that it was in an effort to get Kurt going, since he's even said it himself that he isn't as comfortable if he's not in the spread slinging it around.

But, if you can run for 5 yards a pop, keep doing it.
