2021 - Prove It
I don't know much about his High School record and what type of team he was leading there. What I can say is that most athletic QBs win at that level in the 2 min drill with their legs or through broken coverages. The windows just aren't tight because the defenses aren't super knowledgeable.Your last comment is a good one. He likely didn’t have a ton of 2 minute drills in high school either. But still, he’s likely played QB for like 15 years at various levels. The concepts you’re talking about in a two minute drill are kinda common sense type things for anyone who has played football at any position at any level for any minimal length of time.
He had nearly zero in college and if he did have one it was against far inferior talent. When you can take the shot down the middle of the field with no concern for the clock because it will auto stop, you don't have to be as concerned about what routes to attack. And if you have all day, you can wait for those to develop and eventually beat coverage.
I know people on here hate it, but I do go back to it. The Alabama game was a big indicator for me before the draft and has help true since IMO. When Kyler doesn't have a clear talent advantage he really struggles to execute because he doesn't seem to want to pivot when teams take away what he likes to do best and what is easy.
