It's time to focus on offense. Take 2 wrs in round 1; hopefully MHJ and McConkey, take a DT or CB in round 2, then Dillon Johnson as a compliment to Conner at rb in round 3, then IOL with the remaining 2 third round picks. Let's score some points, give Kyler some draft picks to work with, add depth and skill.
I don't see the need for 2 IOL in rd 3. I also don't want a RB in rd 3. I'm good with 1 IOL in rd 3 or 4.
If Monti grabs 1 of the top 3 WRs then I expect he looks for a steal at the WR position as the draft unfolds.
With so many quality WRS in this draft there will be some decent veteran WRS that will become available.

The areas of weakness for Kyler are why I questioned how the interior OL was never priority 1 for Keim. Good organizations know how help cover some of the flaws of their star players.

And also how he needs to be coached hard in terms of a QB coach. Not 100% sold just working with his dad will fix the baseball windup that occurs when there is pressure.

Yeah, the "plays small while he's in the pocket" conclusion isn't very exciting, and we're not winning poop unless on 3rd and 8 Murray can stand in there and deliver a strike.

I mean, I'm 100% confident he can do it but obviously the rest of the world has doubts.

Kyler's supporting cast is likely good enough this year though. LG is still a little bit of a question mark, but I think DP will work it out.

MO has worked hard to build around K1. If you're a Murray fan, I don't think you could ask for much more than how that side of the ball has been improved over the last two seasons.

It's funny. I have listened to a lot of podcasts, and NFL coaches, broadcasters, media, etc, from other teams seem to think more highly of Kyler than this forum does. I keep hearing phrases like, "We have to face a Kyler Murray lead team, and that won't be an easy game." Other teams seem to go out of their way to mention Kyler Murray making the Cardinals more dangerous to play. Just an observation I have noticed when other teams talk about the Cardinals.

I think it's the familiarity of Kyler.

We see his week to week mistakes, while other fans don't. We also see how magnificent he can be at his best. That early 2021 game against the Rams in LA that I watched live was pure fire. The crowd was shell shocked after the 2nd Quarter.

I almost think he's thinking too much about the systems he's in. When we first got him, we saw those fantastic throws. Maybe it's lack of WR talent since then, but he seems to not have as much gun slinger mentality as he did before.

One of the issues with the deep ball was just how bad the connection was with Hollywood. Dude might be fast, but his deep ball tracking skills aren't very good and he is well below average at the catch point.

It might have worked at Oklahoma, but it clearly wasn't working in the NFL.

I think in college he was more wide open, which isn't happening in the pros. I think he's overrated. I was not worried when he left.

When he does things like in did in Las Vegas teams worry. I was there and he was amazing in that come back. He just needs to play his game and stop worrying about the turn overs. IMO

Be a gun slinger K1
Absolutely. I think he lost confidence and started getting it back. Hopefully growth continues. He still has a long ways to go in the pocket, and may never get there, but we can hope with that too.

I feel Kurt Warner proved you can move outside the pocket and have a great career. I really wonder why were are trying to make Murray a pocket passer when his legs are his biggest asset. Let the kid run and chuck it.

No one's trying to make him a pocket passer. Where are you getting that from? He needs to be able to step up in the pocket, take the pressure, and throw the rock. Every QB needs to do that. He doesn't need to do it all the time, and he should be allowed to use his legs to make plays. He simply needs to be able to have pocket presence as well if he will ever be what we need to be.

To be fair to Kyler, his offense line has not been exactly top notch, nor receivers getting open on routes in a timely fashion either. That would help him a great deal in stepping up if the timing on plays was better. I think this coaching staff is on the right track to getting the OL fixed, at least.

Except he has a long history of bailing on perfectly clean pockets, too, often spinning directly into pressure he created by doing so. He did better last year, although it is still an issue. He must, absolutely must, be able to step up in a clean pocket to avoid pressure, otherwise he won't be the QB we need. He was trending the right way last year, so we'll see if he makes the developmental leap we need.

Personally, I would like to see Kyler step up in the pocket and run up the middle planned or not.

The book on Kyler is hold the edges. If he bolts up the middle instead of always moving left or right there would be huge gaps to run.

With our center and guards we should be able to open up lanes given the defense concentrating on holding the edges against Kyler’s tendency to scramble outside.

It's a good recipe for getting him injured. (IMO)

One of his past injuries was a jammed shoulder when he got hit going up the middle. This affected his throwing for several subsequent weeks.

I mean maybe QuebecCard, but running through the middle of the field is where Murray can use his ninja like change of direction best. Without the sideline to help him, one defender squared up against Murray has zero chance of tackling him. None.

K1 just needs to pick his spots wisely, and slide before contact.

I 1000% agree with you we want to protect our franchise QB, but part of what makes Kyler a transcendent, generational talent is his running ability. If he doesn't have at least five rushing attempts a game, his talent is being wasted.

Either he's durable enough to have 100 rushing attempts a year, or he's not. We need to find out this year.

I'm not opposed to his running, but I have reservations about runs up the middle.

Too many big bodies and likely hits from the side.
