Yeah being a RB much different than QB. Much more year round dedication required to be a QB IMO.

Apparently that's not true though there's some rule from a few years ago that made it against the rules for them to put that in a contract and enforce it.

Just watched a video earlier today from maybe Schefter? He was reporting that he had a copy of Kyler's contract that he was reading from and baseball is on the excluded activity list. No exhibition, tryout, etc at any level or it voids the contract.

Basically the next 3+1 years KM is dedicated to Football. After that, if he plays well, he will probably need to give up some money to get such a clause out of the way so, yes. Maybe he makes the Cards a Brady deal, 9 mio less for playing in the MLB half the season. Or something like that.

Would that be crazy, maybe, would 9 Mio $ help his football team, yes probably 1 good OL player or a top TE, a Top RB or a good WR and so on more than otherwise.

But for now, this is only talk, in 3 years we can look at it.

No idea who's right but this says is Murray would have to pay back the unearned guarantee from his contract. it doesn't prevent him from playing baseball, it just means if he does, he gives back the guaranteed money.

Winston's contract actually prevented him from playing baseball because Tampa Bay put a clause in the contract that gave them the right to refuse to accept the guaranteed money back. That is Winston decides to play baseball and says ok I'm giving the unearned guarantee back, under his contract the Bucs just refuse to take the money back and the only relief Winston has is to sue them in court and try to void that part of the contract. the NFL changed it after that so Kylers' contract is different, if he decides to play baseball he can, but he has to give back the unearned guarantee, AND the Cards have to allow him to give it back in order to play baseball. In theory the Bucs contract made it against the rules for Winston to quit football and play baseball.

So here's my question. If his contract is voided for playing baseball, does he get to keep the signing bonus? Total contract was $35M, but the signing bonus was over $23M. That's a huge chunk of the contract if he gets to keep it.

EDIT: I see Russ Smith's post has the answer on the signing bonus. Kyler would owe them over $17M of the $23M signing bonus if he leaves them after 1 year. $17M is not chump change. Would think he's not going to do jack squat in this scenario.

Again, this headline is misleading. Maybe he would be capable of playing point guard in the NBA with years of practise or enter the decathlon in the Olympics with more years of practise. He's just saying he has that kind of athletic ability. But he's made his choice and it looks like he made the right one. The media is hungry for the narrative of someone playing two professional sports.

Nike doesn't want him playing baseball. They want him focused on football and reaching his potential there. Multiple sports would limit that. They want Russell Wilson not Brian Jordan. Plus, all modern players to cross over and play both had very short NFL seasons with the exception of Deion. Also, no QB has had success doing it. Drew Henson tried and played 17 games total between the two sports. Nike wants a Super Star, not a someone who might be marginal at best between to two and history tells us that is more likely the outcome should he play both. Don't kid yourself if you don't think Nike has more influence in this than anyone else.

Even Dieion eventually quit baseball...and it made him even better in football.
