No thanks. I’d rather start Tune for a year to lock in the 1st overall pick in ‘26 and get our guy there.
You can't do that. You lose the team. There are guys here that want to win, coaches too. You can't tank now, that ship has sailed.
This is really the biggest obstacle to moving on from Kyler. I think this year is a good year to max out his trade value because a lot of teams have desperate coaches and GM's that need a QB and FA and the draft suck balls. You get more for Kyler this year than next.
And his traded contract would actually be pretty attractive because we'd be swallowing a chunk of it.
The flip side of this is that it's hard for us to replace him, and trading away your starting QB to play some guy screws with the dressing room. There would be a bunch of unhappy guys, would make it harder to bring in good FA's.
It's a lot more complicated than we make out, especially if the locker room isn't checked out on Kyler. Much easier if there are players unhappy with him.
I think you could get away with a trade and signing someone like Russ Wilson who will have respect from players and just made the playoffs (although I think Wilson is a tool as a person), but it's slim pickings, and if it doesn't go your way could tear a team apart.
