Lady Bears roll past three opponents at Commando Classic

HENDERSONVILLE — Mt. Juliet rolled to three more wins last Friday on the second day of the Commando Classic with a 14-2 thumping of Sullivan East, a 10-3 whipping of Waverly and a 19-1 knockout of Sycamore at Drakes Creek Park.

The Lady Bears scored 11 runs in the second inning against Sycamore. Sierra Schoop doubled in one score, Zoie Butler hit a two-run single and Jewel Hale blasted a two-run homer to center. Layla Patrick followed with a solo shot to center.

Mt. Juliet started another rally and Ellie Freudenthal drew a bases-loaded walk. Isabelle Walker hit an RBI single. Shoop returned to the plate and doubled in two runs before Butler capped the uprising with an RBI single.

The Lady Bears had already led 3-0 in the first on a Hale RBI single and an Ava Fisher two-run triple.

They tacked on five more on four hits in the top of the third inning on a Fisher RBI single, a bases-loaded walk to Freudenthal, a Kailey Glover run-scoring groundout and a two-run single by Hailee Crews.

Ashlyn Elliott earned the win for Mt. Juliet by allowing a run on three hits and two walks with eight strikeouts.

The Lady Bears banged out 13 hits, including two each by Hale, Shoop, Butler and Fisher. Shoop drove in four runs. Mt. Juliet drew six walks and stole five bases

Mt. Juliet jumped to a 4-0 lead in the first inning against Sullivan East on a sacrifice fly by Sierra Shoop and a bases-loaded triple by Ava Fisher. RBI doubles by Shoop, Ellie Freudenthal, Hailee Crews and Marlee Watson extended the lead in the third.

Annalise Mecklenburg earned the win in the circle with two runs (none earned) on four hits and no walks with seven strikeouts in four innings.

Mt. Juliet finished with 11 hits, including two each by Crews, Freudenthal and Fisher. Shoop and Fisher drove in three runs apiece.

Waverly jumped to a 2-0 lead on a first-inning home run.

The Lady Bears bounced back with three runs in their first at-bat. Mecklenburg doubled in two runs and Avery Haymans hit an RBI single. Four more scored in the second as Chloe Younggren cracked a three-run homer and Brookelynn Aldridge an RBI double.

After Waverly hit a solo home run in the top of the third, the Lady Bears got it back with 100% interest in the bottom half on a run-scoring double by Mecklenburg and a single by Ashlyn Elliott.

Jewel Hale pitched four innings for the win, allowing three runs and six hits with no walks

Mecklenburg drove in four runs as she and Kendall Bucher each banged out three hits as Mt. Juliet finished with 13. Elliott and Annabella Brewer added a pair of hits apiece.

Green Hill posts a win and tie last FridayHENDERSONVILLE — Green Hill beat Bartlett 10-1 before the time limit expired in the Lady Hawks’ game against Oakland with the score tied 3-3 in the Commando Classic last Friday at Drakes Creek Park.

Kendall Davis led off the Lady Hawk third inning with a solo home run to right field to put Green Hill ahead 3-2 over Oakland. Avary Stockwell’s two-run bomb put them up 2-1 earlier.

Ainsley McMullen’s two-run homer to right put Green Hill ahead of Bartlett 7-1 in the third inning. Alyx Frost made it 3-1 on an RBI double.
