Parker can't shoot either, and Kidd at least has deep playoff experience.

Apparently latest rumor has removed Farmar from the deal and added Brian Cook.

Do it Mitch. If he can pull that deal off, I'd be happy...sad to see Kwame go and our interior D gets really suspect, but Farmar learning from Kidd is very valuable.

How many players are on the Laker's roster? You can't trade 6 players for 2 and not pick up anybody to meet the minimum roster requirements.

And plays some semblance of defense along with his court intelligence. Going from Smush Parker to even an aging Jason Kidd tremendously helps the Lakers. Too bad Mitch Kupchak is their GM or I'd worry about it getting done.

Not hard to replace guys like Shammond and McKie who don't play anyway with another couple of D League guys that don't play either. I'd like to see them bring back Laron Profit, but I think he's stuck on some bench somewhere.

Apparently latest rumor has removed Farmar from the deal and added Brian Cook.

"The rumor in detail is that LA will take the contract of Jason Collins along with Kidd in exchange for Kwame Brown, Chris Mihm, Aaron McKie, Brian Cook, Shammond Williams and Smush Parker. The argument is that LA has accepted taking Collins with the inclusion of Parker instead of Farmar. The Nets demanding Cook to offset the talent discrepancy as best possible."

Yeah, I dont see how that trade is possible.

Lakers currently have this;

Kwame Brown - HURT
Luke Walton - HURT
Vlad Rad - HURT
Chris Mihm - HURT

Kobe Bryant
Andrew Bynum
Brian Cook
Mo Evans
Jordan Farmar
Lamar Odom
Smush Parker
Ronny Turiaf
Sasha Vujacic

Aaron McKie - DOESNT PLAY
Shammond Williams - DOESNT PLAY

That and Mags from Portland with Mihm going there, and the rest to NJ for Collins and Kidd does work. That's the latest rumored deal.
In the end, you are sending out two players currently playing for two players who will play. Before you ask, the physicals would be waived.

They will pick up Dleague players, maybe sign scottie, to fill the roster out.

Wait I heard on ESPN the Nets wanted Bynum included in the deal. Is that not right?

That's obviously posturing. For what, nobody knows right now...either to give reason to back away from the deal, or to try and get more from Mitch. From day one the Lakers said Bynum would not be part of any deal. The Nets know it, so talking about it at this late of a date is strategy on the Nets part...either save face by not doing a trade, try to get more, or try to get someone else to trade for Kidd.

Yes him, Kobe and Lamar are untouchable right now, and I hear the Lakers told the Nets to pick anybody else to include. Apparently the only one holding up the deal is Thorn, since ownership is ready to trade Kidd.

Latest word is that the Nets are getting a 3rd layer involved in the trade. Notice how the West teams are making moves. Ely goes to the Spurs. The Lakers are trying to get JK. The West is getting tougher before the deadline.

Yes, but not every trade improves a team. Making a move is not the same as getting better.

It now appears Kidd will be staying in Nj and Vince Carter will be the one dealt.. Of course, everything could change again..

Vince Carter on way out of Jersey?
Wednesday, February 21, 2007

EAST RUTHERFORD -- Take a good look at the home team's starting lineup when the Nets host the Hornets tonight. Some prominent Nets might not be on the court the next time the team plays.

That is, if they're still here tonight.

Speculation continued to abound Tuesday, as NBA sources indicated there is a real possibility the Nets could move Vince Carter by Thursday's trade deadline. However, the chances of Jason Kidd being dealt appeared to be lessening, as sources said the Nets are not actively seeking a third team to include in a possible Kidd deal.

The Nets expect Carter to opt out of his contract after the season. The Nets are willing to offer a three-year extension worth about $40 million, but the All-Star shooting guard repeatedly has said he is not thinking about next season. That ultimately could lead to his being traded.

League sources say that teams from both conferences are interested in Carter, and the Nets could be willing to move him for a package of "good players" that includes a big man.

Reportedly, the Nets are talking with the Clippers about a package that would include 6-foot-7 guard Shaun Livingston. But two sources denied that Tuesday night. Earlier this season, the Nets were unwilling to trade Carter to the Clippers for Cuttino Mobley and Corey Maggette. Seattle is a possibility for Carter.

The Lakers and Golden State were in the mix, but Los Angeles is the front-runner if Kidd were to be moved. Sources indicate the Lakers offered Jordan Farmar, Aaron McKie, Chris Mihm and Kwame Brown for Kidd. Mihm and Brown are out with injuries.

For the Nets to move Kidd to the Lakers, second-year center Andrew Bynum, a Plainsboro native, would have to be part of the deal, although veteran forward Lamar Odom also would be attractive to the Nets. The Nets also would part with Jason Collins as part of the package.

Sources have indicated that Kidd's divorce proceedings have no bearing on a potential trade. It would be strictly a basketball decision. Kidd did not speak with reporters Tuesday.

Amid all the rumors, the Nets tried to focus on the rest of the season.

"There's always a little anxiety and stress when you read about your name in the papers," coach Lawrence Frank said, referring to players who are the subject of trade rumors. "Once [the trade deadline] is over, you're able to get some closure."

Frank added, "As a coach, you always wish the group you started with [finishes the season]. You'd like to see what you could do. I don't waste a whole lot of energy on it, because there's not a whole lot of control I have over it."

Carter didn't speculate about his immediate future. About his current team, he said, "We can't look past any games. We have very little margin for error."

"In order for us to make a legitimate run," Frank said, "you have to take it to another gear. Because typically the first two weeks after the [All-Star] break, everyone is excited. I don't care where you're at, whether you're a bottom-dweller or whether you're up top trying to compete for seeding.

"There's another gear that each team has to go to."

But will the same players still be driving the Nets?

If VC is traded, Kidd will be a Laker. Almost a certainty.

Bynum and Odom are not going anywhere. Everyone but Thorn was happy with a Kidd to LA trade that included no Bynum and no Odom. Thorn is just being an idiot right now. The Lakers have no desperation to do this deal.

ESPN.com's Ric Bucher reported Tuesday night that the Lakers and Kings had a deal in place to send Mike Bibby to Los Angeles until Kings owners Joe and Gavin Maloof vetoed it, "unable to stomach the thought of helping their playoff rivals of yesteryear."

lol what? the kings sure are still living off a good 2-3 years in their whole franchise.. The rest of their history is complete crap.. i hardly doubt that makes a rivalry.. Even their purple passion crap is stupid.. They were light blue and red for years before that.. Only two teams that have a right to talk about purple passion are the Suns and the lakers.. kings are a complete joke.. aways have been always will be..

Hoopsworld doesn't know anything. They're just repeating the same rumors that have been going on all week.

If Kidd goes to the Lakers, I can't imagine them being a full on contender this year. With a new offense and a lot of players injured as it is, it'd be too difficult to be cohesive enough to knock off any of the big three. Next year however, if they had a decent offseason and signed a good player with their midlevel, they'd be downright scary.

Not to mention that by trading for Kidd the Lakers best defensive post player would be Ronny Turiaf.
