Today's Chicago Tribune is reporting that Adam Schefter from ESPN says that if Larry doesn't have an extension by the end of training camp he's leaving the team.

Someone else (Cardinals related) was tweeting that the vibe around camp yesterday was especially cheerful because the contract announcement was very close.

I could be wrong but I think you read a Somers tweet, and it didnt say it was close, but it was a positive none the less.

Somers said:
"No one is saying a deal is close, but there's a positive vibe around Cardinals camp regarding Larry Fitzgerald contract negotiations."

As for Schefter we talking about the same guy who tried reporting that Fitz had a no franchise tag clause just this week like it was "NEW" news or something, when everyone knew about for more then a year now - that same Schefter.

More on the topic according to Jim Trotter.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/20...rdinals.postcard/index.html?eref=twitter_feed

Conversation Trotter Had with Fitz said:
How close are the sides?

"Closer than we were last week," Fitzgerald said.

How far are they from reaching an agreement?

"Not too far away," he added.

My gut feeling: An extension will be finalized before Fitzgerald's stated deadline.

Per Trotter Fitz has a deadline of 9/5. But as he said he doesnt think that will be an issue.

Another interesting item of note, Trotter says they are working on an at least 6 year deal, not the 4 year deal some including myself thought they would be fighting over, of which Jurecki also kind of confirms the 6 year idea in his recent blog.

Length of deal that matches KOLB.

I actually heard a report of the tweet on one of the afternoon sports radio shows. Which they actually gave a tease on then held over until after the break so all of us could hear a commercial about Bedmart.

1. Schefter is a moron, he got spoiled breaking all the FA and trade news that was hot for a few days, now the news has gone cold and so he's back to his old ways aka 'making stuff up.'

Larry has said he's not gonna discuss it anymore and he's been sticking to that for a couple of weeks. So what he just called Schefter and said; 'hey dude here's the scoop!'

I maintain my prediction that Larry will be signed before the season and it will have nothing to do with this doucheclown.

Andre signed in 07. Fitz will be getting more than that lol. Kurt made somewhere of $13 mill his last season and Fitz is going to become the "highest paid Cardinal player in history". Look for his number to be substantially larger than Andre Johnsons deal.

Kent Somers, who is very close to the team.
