I just had to post a comment and some thotz about Larry's appearance at today's media day. NFL Network carried live almost an hour of the Cardinals portion of the press conference from 2 to 3 pm central time Friday.

It just made me realize what a special group of human beings these Cardinal players and coaches are.

But Larry Fitzgerald really stole the show IMO with his humility, bearing, quiet confidence, overall decency and sense of humor. The EVT does have a story up about Larry that conveys some of this.
http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/story/134202

One person asked about the transition from Denny Green to Ken Whisenhunt. Larry basically said there was absolutely no question of his not wanting to play for Whis. He said the very last thing that Denny Green said to him before he left Arizona was, "You need to play hard for your new coach." And Larry has obviously taken that very much to heart.

I know a lot of us have sometimes questioned Fitz' leadership, but I think we have to realize that there are different kinds of leadership. Larry's kind is doing his job to the utmost and quietly going about his business. Larry Fitzgerald and Terrill Owens both have talent and are pro-bowl caliber receivers. But to me Fitz is the consummate professional and teammate. I mean the guy quietly hands the ball to the official after touchdowns. He very rarely protests a no-call if he is interfered with by the defender. He just does his job at a pro-bowl level game after game after game. He is a coach's dream with his competitiveness and passion to improve.

He talked about his upbringing and about his dad being a strict disciplinarian and how that had affected him and his brother (with his father in the audience at the presser.)

It was really a special treat to experience this hour of intelligent questions from the media and intelligents answers and explanation from Coach Whis, Karlos Dansby, Larry, and Kurt Warner. They also had Adrian Wilson at the presser, but NFLN cut away and didn't carry his portion.

I know Donavan McNabb is a class act, but these Cardinals are really special IMO. I hope America adopts them and they reward their loyal fans this Sunday and go on to hoist the Lombardi in Tampa on February 1.

AZCardinals.com has all the pressers on the website, including Wilson.

Bob Ford took a shot at the Cardinals appearance at the press conference with this gem...

"It was an interesting contrast yesterday when the Cardinals came out for their mandatory podium interview sessions that were broadcast live on the NFL Network. While the Eagles did their usual thing, getting before the cameras in their sweats and standard post-practice gear, the Cards dressed up in suits and ties for the most part.

It had the feel of watching high school sophomores heading for their first prom, while the Eagles seemed like players who had been there, done that and were not overwhelmed by the circumstances. Are the Cards a little freaked out by the magnitude of the NFC Championship game? It felt that way."

I really don't know what he was watching because I didn't get that feeling at all.

Me neither. You have the Ray Lewis-Mike Nolan approach, and you have the Eagles-Bill Belichick approach.

Bob Ford is a real doucheface.

Or perhaps the cardinals are focused and taking this thing serious. Perhaps they appreciate the opportunity they have in front of them.

Or perhaps it really doesn't effing matter what a player wears. Perhaps they wear what the coach tells them to wear for the press. Or perhaps we really shouldn't give a crap.

C'mon, good looking guys like Warner, Fitz, Dansby and ADub look great in nice clothes. McNabb and Dawkins would be wasting their time and money trying to hide their hideousness behind Armani. I mean really, can you picture Brian Dawkins' ugly mug in a suit? It would be like seeing a turd in a bidet. They may be ugly, but they're not dumb. :)

According to NFL Network Rod Graves sent out a memo for all players being interviewed to wear a suit and tie.

I think it's a great idea. The Cardinals should present themselves in a professional manner.

I agree. Bob Ford is an idiot, it bothers me he is even getting to enjoy the Valley this week. He and Philly winters deserve each other.

No, douchebag Philly beat writers know much better how to present oneself before the NFC Championship game. We must listen to Mr. Ford. He is so wise...like a miniature buddah, losing his hair.

What could be worse than being a Philly fan or a member of their media? Both are widely known to be the worst in their department.

It's an outstanding idea. There may be segments and clips of these interviews incorporated into the Superbowl DVD package that the league will produce. 30 years from now, a new generation of football fans will catch some of this on "NFL Classics".

We're talking history here, of epic proportions, stuff that will live on and be shown for decades. You gotta dress up for that!

Reminded me of the pre-game activities of the 1986 Fiesta Bowl: Penn State dress in their navy blue blazers and ties and Miami in fatigues.

Remember how that game turned out! :)

Go Cardinals! :newcards:

Well to be honest, both teams are representing what their respective cities look like.

The more I learn about Larry the more I love him. And yes, I think the nation is going to fall in love with this team, just as we all have. The human interest aspect of this team is off the charts. Faith-filled quarterback, Dockett's tragedies, "Hyphen's" one kidney. Q. (Need I say more about Q?) This is a team of men who have battled back and have formed a community exactly when they needed to do just that.

Dressing up for the press conference? IMO Yes! These men are professional football players. It says a lot about the respect they have for themselves, their team, and the importance of this game.

(Tho I have a soft spot for that gosh-awful green pancho Kurt wears sometimes.)

I think God has blessed this team.
