I keep reading rumors about the Vikings making every effort they can to obtain Larry Fitzgerald. Anyone have any idea what this is all about? I cannot imagine any kind of trade where we give up Fitz.

Here is quote from Pro Sports rumors:

Vikings may look to add QB
December 5
St. Paul Pioneer Press (scroll down) (registration required): "Atlanta backup Matt Schaub, 25, whom the Vikings tried to acquire last spring, would cost at least a first-round draft pick plus a notable player... Some people think Kansas City's Damon Huard, 33, could be a stopgap quarterback until Jackson is ready... Finding a way to acquire Arizona wide receiver and former Holy Angels standout Larry Fitzgerald Jr. — even at an astronomical price — would seem of paramount importance for the Vikings..."

even at an astronomical price

I would do it if they truely did pay that price. Astronomical price to me means 2 players that are at minimum pro bowl caliber, and draft picks.

1st/2nd/Starting CB? I'd have to think about that....

What is their CB situation like? I know they have Chavous in the secondary I dont see him returning. So that's out. This is something they would have to consider.

Drafting Ginn in the first round with our pick, and an lineman with their first pick. Then drafting another CB and DE in round 2 and you have a much better team.

I'd consider it.

Are you saying Chavous is with the Vikings? Did he not go to the Rams? I am confused.

I know they have Smoot, but I'm not interested in him. Who is the other guy? Winfield? Is he, combined with a 1st and 2nd, worth Fitz?

Seems like no matter the deal, the Cards should keep Fitz and build with their own picks. But these are the Cards.....

When have the Cards dealt a probowl player to gain another player + picks? I remember the Cards not resigning their own probowl talent, but when have they traded? Who did they trade for?

I just meant that one can never tell what the Cards will do. I dunno.

Well, that would be a really really bad idea.

At one position this team is actually set. Not perfect, but set.

Don't screw it up Cardinals.

That was just some Minneapolis sportswriter musing out loud for a hometown guy--

its the equivalent of the Az Republic saying -- the Cards need a good TE, they should acquire Todd Heap

give that one circuit around the internet and it becomes:

"Cards to acquire Heap from Ravens?"

I would never watch another cardinals game if we traded Fitzgerald to anyone..We would be more of a joke than what we are now!

I would lose it if we traded Fitzgerald. Fitz will be in the HOF (IMO) when it is all set and done.

Why would any team be willing to pay an astronomical price for a receiver who has a lot of potential but is not a top leader in the league, yet? I agree, we need to keep him for our own use, not consider trading him. We are within a handful of new draftees, free agents, and whoever, from becoming a powerhouse ourselves.

We are were talking about a #1 a #2 and a good CB. You have to atleast listen if someone is going to offer that much for Fitz. Fitzgerald and Green go WAYYY back though. It wont happen.

That would screw up our offense.

Look what happened when he was out for 4 games, the offense fell apart.

We need two good receviers, we trade him, we will spend the next 4 years trying to replace him.

Bad idea.
