Okay. The Suns are getting Dillon Brooks after all. He is a nice player.

Dillon Brooks can be an okay bench piece, but we still got hosed in the trade. Watching Austin Rivers try to handle the point is going to make you pull your hair out.

Maybe I'm being too hard on Ted Stepien. At least he apparently wanted to win, and all the stupid things he did, he really believed were helping.

Sarver wants to win too but Stepien was incredibly short-sighted. I guess maybe they are more alike than I first thought.

I honestly don’t think any of you had realistic expectations. Rivers will he tried as our starting PG.

And he will be about as good at it as Shaq Harrison and post-injury Isaiah Canaan. I would rather give the playing time to Jawun Evans, Elie Okobo and De'Anthony Melton.

The Suns will have a team option on Dillon Brooks next season. This makes the trade for me although I would have liked a different point guard.

A team option? Watch the Suns decline it to make this a complete salary dump (and dumpster fire).

Sure but so is Ariza and I'd much rather have him unless there's some chemistry issue we haven't been told about?

The fact that he was traded within minutes of when we were eligible would lead to yes.

Overall, meh trade overall. Not much gained not much lost

I'm not sure what you're saying but if there's someone here who actually expected us to trade Ariza for 3 worthless shooting guards, sign him up for our front office. I don't know if any of the 3 will be on our roster a week from now although I guess maybe Marshon Brooks if Booker's injury is expected to linger (IF, not saying it is).

I'd much rather have Ariza than that mess coming our way. And I'm going to spend a lot of time cleaning vomit off my TV screen if we actually use Austin Rivers on the court.

Except the opportunity perhaps to extract something of value from the Ariza signing...plus perhaps the first pick of the second round of the 2019 draft.

How in the hell are we supposed to overreact properly if they can't even get the names right in this trade. This is almost funny.

It’s apparently Dillon brooks which offers more value. And really ariza is ariza. He has limited value. And rivers will start for us. He’ll leave a lot to be desired but he will put more pressure on defenses than any of our other pgs. I don’t love the deal but I don’t hate it.

If you mean more pressure on our own defense due to his turnovers, sure...

This is the way I look at it. The Suns traded Ariza for Dillon Brooks who can be here for more than one season and get a combo guard in Rivers to play with Booker.

I liked Dillon coming out of college but I don't know much about him in the pros. I hate the idea of watching Rivers although he doesn't sleep walk through the game so there is that.

Except Dillon Brooks has a team option that the Suns could still decline to dump more salary, and Rivers is worse than Okobo and Melton (and probably Evans as well).

He's a vet player, past his prime on an expiring deal. Unless we added anything of notable value, you weren't going get much in return.

Expiring contracts aren't that high in value anymore.

True. Rivers plays like the guard equivalent of out-of-control Josh Jackson (only he has had several years in the NBA and some real coaching, so there is no hope he ever plays differently).
