If they could somehow package J-Rich for Jefferson I think the team would have a chance to be better than last year. Not sure how likely it is but I think he's the only available big that you can say that about.
Don't laugh but Z.Randolph for JRich appears workable numbers wise.
He avg 20 and 12 in 81 gms last year. They've already got OJ Mayo at the 2 though so.....ok go ahead and laugh.

Wow. I'm not sure what to say. I'm floored.

Not a world beater move by any means, but it's certainly more than anyone thought Sarver would do. By far.

Um, why? Why trade JRich who is still our best scoring player for Richard Jefferson, who... wouldn't be?

some people will complain about everything. our options arent exactly stacked right now short of blowing up the team, and there isn't a true big available within reason. this might be the best possible move the team could have made, and those 2 lineups will punish teams.

I wouldn't laugh. ZBo, while a headcase is much more talented, would be easier to integrate in the offense and has an expiring contract. I'd take him over Jefferson pretty easily.

I just don't think he's available, especially for J-Rich. Wolves actually have no SG and are looking to move Jefferson. Chances are they dump him for a TPE or cap but I thought he was the most likely target.

Childress played very well in Europe last season (averaged ~16 points a game in under 30 minutes, and his team made the finals). He should be able to give us 12 points a night and decent defense.

I like Turkoglu's game a lot, and the guy was born to play in Phoenix. Motivation was clearly a problem in Toronto, but I don't think it'll be one here; he was fine when he was playing on a good team in Orlando. He's also very smart and a great distributor. He basically played point during crunch time when the Magic made the finals. His biggest downside is his bloated contract. I worry how that'll hamstring us on future moves.

Here is what Gambo is saying:

Turkoglu agrees to waive $5.25 million of $6.5 million trade kicker. Turkoglu is under contract for next 4 years at roughly $42 million

The Suns are using none of their trade exception to acquire Turkoglu and will have $5.7 million of it left after the Childress deal

Turkoglu agrees to eliminate half of his guarantee in final year of contract to come to Phx. So only 6.1 million gtd instead of 12.2 mill

This deal is sounding sweet. Also the Suns have flexibility with the remaining TPE not that they are planning to use it.

Along the same lines, I posted this in the other thread

Richardson to New Orleans for David West?

Nash, Dragic
Childress, Dudley
Turkoglu, Hill, Clark
West, Warrick, Lawal

Thanks Chap, that's basically what I wanted to say.

I like the move, the depth is great and in the event of an injury any of the backups can step right in and play. I'd shift Hill to the bench too.

You speak the truth Tzu,but maybe we can aquire that 20 and 12 head case PF at the deadline...or in FA ;)
I just wanted to add that Corey Brewer emerged a bit last season for MINNESOTA playing primarily at the 2.
Obviously not the caliber player of a JRich but they expect bigger things from Brewer this season shooting the basketball.

My guess is he is referring to Al, not Richard.

EDIT: Haha wow, I was a little late on this one.

I'm glad Leandro is going to Toronto where BC will take care of him. I like this young man.

As for Childress; I honestly dont know how his game has been progressing or regressing given the fact that he's been in Greece the last few seasons. Still worth a shot IMO as long as he comes off the bench

I had to go look too..

David West would be great, but there probably isn't any way to actually get him numbers-wise. We can't trade them JRich because West doesn't make enough money and they don't have enough players for adding a throw-in. And for Toronto, their team is going to be pretty average at best, keeping Ed Davis has got to be a priority for them.

I'm warming more and more to the JRich for Al Jefferson deal, but right now, the position they are hurting at is SF, not SG with Corey Brewer there. Then again, Brewer is 6'9" and can be a slashing SF if they wanted to do that.

Tub of Glue should score 20 points a night with Nash feeding him. He should have a personal best on threes with this team. I just have a hard time picturing him finishing on the pick and roll like Amar'e. I can see him stepping out off the pick and roll for threes and mid range twos. Childress I am not expect8ing a lot from. It's a we will see what happens with him.

With Amare gone, the pick and roll wasn't going to be as unstoppable anyway, so I don't know why people are complaining about it so much.

JRich, Hedo and Frye knocking down shots with Nash and Lopez on the PnR. Sounds pretty good to me. Maybe not championship-good, but definitely playoff good.

Turklu is a very good perimeter player. If they just did this trade earlier, we could have saved ourselves the Frye an Warrick signing and taken the risk to give the additional 20 mil guaranteed money to Amare.

Lopez/Amare/Turklu/JRich/Nash with Hill/Dud/Dragic plus some other bigs for the MLE would be title contender.

Now when u just thought it's time to rebuild, Sarver comes up with a teaser like this deal to have a team of 50 and fade without a true power player to be relevant in the POs. :(

I hear you. I am wondering if we go more to a triangle at times. I am thinking we will do less pick and roll, but I am probably wrong. I am eager to see what offense they cook up post Amar'e.

If we do Jefferson for JRich, where would that put us in the hierarchy of the Western Conference and the NBA as a whole?

Starters:
Robin Lopez
Al Jefferson
Hedo Turkoglu
Josh Childress
Steve Nash

Bench:
Grant Hill
Channing Frye
Jared Dudley
Goran Dragic
Hakim Warrick
Gani Lawal
Dwayne Collins
Earl Clark

Definitely one of the best benches in the NBA.
