fair point. Maybe I jumped the gun a bit on that. And I wasn't saying Dansby was a bad person either. But I thought I remembered hearing he was a distraction in the locker room during all the contract talks and whatnot at the end of his time here. I had never heard a thing negative about Wash until this. But I do agree. It was stupidly selfish. I don't think it's anything he can't get past though (assuming it is just pot and not heroin or crack or something. But he doesn't look like those could be options). And I still expect him to sport a C this year too

yeah. I don't think he's a bad person, but I also don't believe anyone who does something as selfish and stupid as Washington did deserves to wear that C on his jersey yet.

rules are rules, and while I think it's a stupid rule, he knows it was wrong and he stupidly broke the rule. No question. He's serving his 4 game suspension and will be right back on the field. Without AW now, I think he is our main leader on D. He deserves the C. I think it's more political than anything if they don't give it to him (which I still understand though. You don't want to encourage that type of behavior by seemingly rewarding it. Even if it is just coincidental timing)

My money is on Campbell being the defensive captain.

and who else? Didn't we have 2 or 3 last year? AW, Lenon, and maybe Dockett?

They had 2 on defense-Lenon and Wilson. Would not shock me for it to be Campbell and Dockett...even Patrick Peterson before Washington.

Deserves the C? That's almost laughable given he's tested positive for some form of illegal drugs 3 times now.

Listen, I like the guy as a player, but this is serious...he's been given huge amounts of ca$h by his ownership & expected to be one of the leaders! If it was indeed pot, it's not being taken with a grain of salt like you & others are thinking that drug is. A big part of DWashs responsibility to his team is staying clean & being able to play.

PP makes better sense than both of them. I just can't see the shot-callers both being on the D line

lol, you seem to love writing off my opinions as if they were facts. They're not. Disagree and talk-down to your heart's content, doesn't make your opinion any more "right" ;)

Not trying to talk down to ya, sorry if it came down like that I'm just reacting to the words you wrote.

I'm just saying DWash has to grow up ASAP & quit going down the wrong path or else he will find his way on the streets & playing for someone else & a lot less $$$ doing it or even possibly throwing away a career & life like Luis Sharpe did.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Campbell, Peterson, and Yeremiah Bell be the defensive captains. All three are reportedly great guys--Carson Palmer called Bell out by name at his presser.

If Daryl Washington is the "leader" of the defense, that would only because they've tossed out everyone else.

I'd be good with Dansby. Doubt he has the same range as when he was with the Cards but he was capable of playing Safety back in the day.

A major point that was brought to the forefront during this thread is that we are devoid of a true leader on the D. DWash has smoked away any chance of being a C for at least this year.

CC has a good work ethic but doesn't exude leader to me. DD is a bit too far left of center. PP might be the guy, great work ethic and maturity so maybe.

Maybe Bell as K9 pointed out.

Acho is very smart so maybe??

I don't think this changes are draft needs significantly because upping the need for ILBer based on a 4 game suspension is a knee jerk reaction IMHO. Now if the FO believes DWash is a ticking time bomb (based on 3rd offense he very well may be) then 4 games is not a season crusher.

At the right price I'm for it. Don't get all the venom for Dansby though. He was franchised every time they could use it instead of being taken care of like he should have been. At some point, when player after player leaves Rod Graves at the altar, at some point you have to blame the groom and not the numerous brides that have come and gone.

Graves didn't even give these dudes a reach-around before he bent them over...then he'd overpay for suck. Makes no sense. Of course he left, just like the majority of our good players over the years.

I appreciate the clarification. And I do agree that he needs to grow up. And fast. I don't think he himself would disagree. Without this incident, I think he was a shoe in for C. His screw-up doesn't make him any less capable of a player, though it will lessen his impact on the season. Ultimately, it's going to come down to the team and whether they think he's the right man for the job. I still think he is. How would you compare this incident to the one where Dockett spit in Rhodes face? Would you say Dockett deserves to be captain over DWash?

I personally don't think DD is a leader, so no & I'm 100% sure DWash wont get that distinction in 2013 either.

I tend to agree with you on DWash. I'm not 100%, but I don't see it happening, whether I agree or not. And DD killed any chance of leading that D by showing such blatant disrespect to a fellow teammate in the middle of a game. That was just a pathetic move

Sorry to butt in but I really think there was an issue with Rhodes somehow. Sure he wanted money but we didn't try to keep him and Dock still here. Sure he spit in his face, never a good move when you're on the same team, but who knows what Rhodes said to him or how he said it. All I know is Dockett got praised from BA while Rhodes left without a peep.

good points. I would love to know what actually happened. I was told Rhodes refused to discuss a restructure/new deal with the new FO. How true it is, or why, I have no idea. I would have loved to keep him. I was planning on buying his jersey this year. He was a big contributor on D

Of Cards dump Hoyer, I'd think they could make room for. Dansby. As much as I was mad at him, pairing him w/ Dwash would be sweet.

Dansby is still one of the best ILB"s in the game. Put him next to D-Wash and we have one of the best if not the best inside tandems in the league. The Cards should be on the phone with him now signing him to a contract.

If he can still play, I'd bring him back at the right price. But he probably wants to be a 16-game starter, not a 4-game fill in.

The idea of adding Dansby is great. But we just signed 2 ILB's so I don't see it happening. But I would be all for it.

Brinkley is one who is the other? I guess Alexander could move inside but he doesn't seem to have the build or skill set for the WILB position. The Cards now have to pick up somebody or just ride with Walker. An interesting idea would be to try Schofield there during pre season. He could have the skillset.

We could also pick up Obafemi's brother. Would be cool to have another Iamonebadvato on the team. :)
