It's going to be a 1 year deal. I don't think any GM would consider that problem solved.

On saying that I don't think they draft a high round running back. They have said they believe in Chase. To draft a RB on day 1 or 2 is saying "We don't really believe in Chase".

Much more likely they take a day 3 guy with upside.

I think you're right. I don't like the plan, or that they "believe" in Chase, but I think you're right.

Bucs just signed Bernard.

Now have RoJo, Fournette and Bernard costing them a grand total of about $5m. That's how to do it.

Find me a post where anyone says that Conner is the ANSWER?

For one, I'm still hoping for a second rd. investment at RB (Javonte Williams) and would see a Williams, Edmonds, Conner backfield as solid.
It seems to make it strongly unlikely that we'll invest a pick at RB that high with both of these guys in the fold. I just don't see Keim doing it. He's the smartest guy in the room so he'll take someone we've never heard of from a small school.

I don't think you have an alternative but to say "we believe in Chase" when asked at that point of the season even if you don't.

If you start with 'the glass is half empty' and 'life's a bitch and then you die', must say - you are always right.

Would like to have that level of talent here, especially at that price. It just doesn't appear to be on the cards.

Disagree

Chase = RoJo
Conner = Fournette
Bernard =?

Only with this regime. Before Keim hit the reset button with Kliff, I was a huge brightsider. I'm just exhausted from the half decade of mediocrity and "all in" strategy that seems more like "all in to try really hard to get third place."

Conner is nowhere close to Fournette.

Why not? Fournette was so good the Jags, the worse team in the league, cut him on his rookie deal and got better production out of a UDFA rookie.

While Fournette couldn't take the starting job from Ronald Jones.

Probably he confused Fournette with Derrick Henry

Yeah, if anything, James Connor is the better player.

Fournette:763 att / 2998 yds / 3,9 avg /23 td / 7,3 receiving yards avg

Connor: 532 att / 2302 yds / 4.3 avg / 22 td / 7,8 receiving yards avg

It gets even better when looking at advanced rushing stats for last season:

Derrick Henry: 11.1 att/brT, 2.8 yac/att, 2.5 ybc/att, 5.4 ypg
Delvin Cook: 9.5 att/brT, 2.4 yac/att, 3.1 ybc/att, 5.0 ypg

Kenyan Drake: 14.9 att/brT, 1.7 yac/att, 2.3 ybc/att, 4.0 ypg
Chase Edmonds: 9.7 att/brT, 1.9 yac/att, 2.7 ybc/att 4.6 ypg

James Conner: 9.9 att/brT, 2.0 yac/att, 2.3 ybc/att, 4.3 ypg
Leo Fournette: 0 brokenT, 2.0 yac/att, 1.7 ybc/att, 3.9 ypg

Stats are form Pro Football Reference.

What does that tell us:
James Connor would be a solid signing and is the better back than Fournette in basically every way. He was just overrated coming out of college.

People keep going out about his "injuries". I'm pretty sure he's missed less time that David Johnson. On a per carry basis he's probably missed less time than Chase Edmonds.
Again, comparing an injured dude to other injured dudes doesn’t support a thumbs up.
