Whis just said they won't be looking for another QB. We're rolling with DA, Hall and Skelton. Yikes.
oh man wheres the pepto bismal

max hall starting by week six, and the phrase "stupid cardinals" will be much overused this season:(

I liked Matt and wish him well. I hope he goes on to a team that will build his confidence back up. When he came here he was going to be special. As it turns out he came up short after a first good year of growth. We will all be watching. Good luck Matt and thanks .

If you told me DA was going to be our starter the beginning of the offseason, I would have been on the McNabb and Campbell bandwagon. That is coming from their biggest detractor of the two when their names came up months ago.
I dont care who anyone supported between Matt and D. Cavaricci, but I think we call all admit a hughe failure has been committed by our team from top to bottom by failing to address this issue when they KNEW it was a problem PRIOR to the last season ending.

If there was a QB that was perfectly tailored for "Same Ol' Cardinals", it would be Derek Anderson. I'm hoping Jake Locker is another story of 1st overall potential that falls for whatever reason and we scoop him up. Minus the end, of course.
Totally argree...

Because we might lose 13 games this year.

.

That could just as easily happened with Matt at the helm. You guys say that as though if Matt was teh QB we would be shoe ins for the playoffs.

I don't agree with that. His tenure is judged by wins and losses...he took this team to the freaking Super Bowl. Ditching an underperforming QB the year before a balloon payment is a blip on the radar, frankly, and I'm one of Matt's fans. CKW is the freaking man.

Spot on!

I completely agree. If they were going to go with Leinart then they needed to build the offense(in a breaking some eggs year anyway) around Leinart's strengths, give him at least have of the regular season games and then make a decision for 2011.

If they were that tentative about Leinart, enough that he could completely lose his job after the meaningless 1st preseason game and by the 2nd then they should have had a better backup in place.

I'd be willing to bet a large sum that the Cards don't draft ANY QB in the first round of next year's draft

If our o-line doesnt get its act together, I can see it as more of a priority. We have two rookies that can be easily groomed to take over. And if (big IF) anderson excels, he is young enough to be the future

I hope Leinart develops into a quality QB in this league, but I am not going to take it as any type of lock. His best options would be to go to Indy, New England, or someplace else with a legit starter to mature under.

Didn't he have that with Kurt that last couple of years?

But the difference is, Whis will now take the heat for the losses. If it was Leinart in there, he would be the reason and final proof of getting rid of him would have gone without contention.

I find this kind of curious. I applaud Coach Whis for putting Leinart in the best position he could to win the starting QB job. He brought in the highest quality of player who would not immediately make Leinart feel uncomfortable. Leinart then dropped the ball. If you think the backlash is bad for not giving Leinart a chance now, imagine if we brought in Jason Campbell.

Whis obviously wanted to give Leinart the opportunity to prove that he deserved to be our starting QB. Having put in 4 years with the team, Leinart deserved that. But, Leinart failed, and at least we seem to have found a vet QB who has the skills to make the throws that are needed in our offense.

Say what you want, but I am more concerned with our running game than with DA as our starting QB.

I think the idea is right but it needs to be qualified. Leinart would benefit learning from someone and a system better suited to his strengths as a QB. Asking him to mimic Warner's style of play wasn't a good idea.

Who's to say that his approach to the game wasn't improved by watching Warner? Regardless of how it translated to the field, I think his work habits, dedication and approach are "improved" even though they may still not be good enough or just right for Whis.

Overrated!!!!

Sadly I don't believe he knew the playbook if it was a chip implanted in his noggin. Ya' think he xeroxed it and will bring it wherever he goes...i kinda' doubt that too.

I wish him well, and wish he worked out. An awful lot of us on the day he was drafted were happy campers....does anyone recall a poster who thought he was not going to make it during the first week we had him?? I don't recall anyone....one little giveaway in retrospect...both Cutler and Young went before he did whatever that is worth.
yeah pretty much everyone agrees had he come out as a junior after the national championship and heisman he would have easily gone number 1 overall,
wonder who had the first pick the year before we took leinert

Sad but true.

ML never was able to get the offense down mentally.

That is hogwash. go back and look at the replay of last preseason against Green Bay.

I'd leave it at groomed. If it was easy, Matt would be starting.

Matt was going to be cut this year or next. There was no way anyone was going to pay him is salary next year. Wants to be a #1 but no team wants him to be a #1 until he can show he can be the man. I am sorry that was just cut a #1 and #2 pick but other than that I am fine with the move. Matt had his chance for 4 years to learn and come out and run this team. Just checking down and increasing your % doesn't say your ready to be the starter! Sucks we dropped another high pick but looks like we have to capable pick ups from this year.

Why are so many fans surprised. Matt sucked.

He didn't act as a leader nor did he play like one.

I have watched the Cardinals operate for too many years. The future of Matt was cast about the same time that the DD tweeted that there was a surprise coming that he could not tell about.
