I can see Leinart saying "no" to being a backup which led to this.

Well, if Whiz says that he asked him and that was the answer, fine. But, I'd like to know whether the question was posed directly and unambiguously.

(But, if Michael Lombardi was absolutely right that the decision on Matt's future was made some weeks ago, I doubt that the offer was on the table. We will see.)

I wonder if Matt will end up with the NY Giants, they cut QB Rhett Bomar.
I think they covered it already by signing Rosenfels.

Who would have been a much better choice for the Cardinals than Anderson IMO.

this,
get ready to see him twice a year, carrol will make him a star in the nfl, god derrick anderson? max hall will be starting before the seasons over major rebuilding here we come,
6 and 10 will be damn good for us this year

Have to agree. Not saying Leinart is any great shakes but if the best the Cards could do to replace Warner is Derrick Anderson and with the run game going nowhere, only gaining 16 yards in their first 9 carries with the Redskins sitting 29 players it doesn't look that great.

But you never know especially once Fitz is back on the field. That's why I like the NFL so much better than College where almost all of the non-conference games are ridiculous mismatches like we've seen so far today.

I know Donald... and I know a journeyman like Warner only comes around once in a lifetime.
Still, I am not all ruling out the potential for DA to do something special here. And if not, I am also not ruling the potential for Hall to become a Jeff Garcia, only surrouned by better coaching and more talent...

DA do something special as in Warner special?

Impossible dude.

If DA has a QB rating of 85 for the season, and we win ten games, it will be a miracle.

But I'm full on the DA bandwagon baby. You can believe that. Fire that mother up, and lets get rolling.

LMAO... "coddle"?? Who the hell gets "coddled" in the NFL?? YOU either step up to the challenge and become a leader, or YOU don't.
Matty's issues are part talent, with huge dose of lacking "want-to"!

I'm not saying that Matty won't become a starter somehwere else... I hope he does actually... because he will then finally be exposed for who he is, and the focus will cease to be placed on Whiz's "mistreatment" of poor 'lil "Matty! ;)

Lots of players get "coddled" in the NFL. It isn't Whis' style, but some coaches do treat different players differently (Vikings, anyone?).

I also think you are silly to whine about people whining about "mistreatment." It's just a bad situation all around...Whis' style and Matt's style don't mesh. That is clear...7 looked like a beaten dog and whimpered when CKW looked at him crossly...this isn't a BAD thing either. You either have to be on CKW's page or move along. That's a GOOD thing. But you really can't deny that they didn't seem to click or have the same outlook.

If CKW was the kind of coach to put an arm around a guy, coach him up and find the motivation to make him excel, 7 would have performed better. And note, I think that kind of coach actually SUCKS and I much prefer CKW's style of "I don't need to play grabass with you, just play the damn game." But those kind of coaches do exist (and Carroll is one of them).

I am not surprised. Mainly because Matt has never come across as a Whiz guy. I hope he lands on his feet but he just didn't seem to mesh with this offense for whatever reason. For some reason I still think there is some talent there but who knows.

Having said all that........the Cardinals are screwed. I am calling it now that this entire season will be a struggle. Derek Anderson isn't a good QB and Hall doing some nice things in preseason and being able to do that against starters in this league all season is something else. Not that there is anybody out there but if I were the Cards front office I am making calls to get another vet QB in here. DA is not the answer and neither is Hall.

As of right now this team doesn't make the playoffs.

Crazy, possibly... but a neccessity given Leinarts demeanor & potential venom towards the team & HC.

But the team had to know this was coming. If Mike Lombardi knew this was coming, the team had to have some idea. Yet DA, an UDFA and a 5th rounder who looks years away from being effective are our only QB options as of now. At the very least, we should have been the team to trade for Rosenfels.

So is Leinart on waivers right now or just unemployed?

Rams, Lions, Buccaneers, Redskins, Chiefs, Seahawks, Raiders, Browns and Bills are the top waiver priority teams.

Venom towards the Coach, probably. Towards the team, highly doubtful. IMO

Fairly or not, this is a guy who was routinely destroyed by the national media with very little support from his teammates. Add in the whispers that some of them actively participated in the dump Leinart movement and it raises some serious questions whether he'd be the team guy you're suggesting.

Kinda crazy IMO. I dont watch too much Giants football, but I did watch their past couple games because my buddy (Jake Bender) is trying out for the team and Bomar looked pretty damn good to me.

Give the points vs. the Owls today.

Anything can happen. There have been a lot of 2nd chance QB's to do very well in the NFL. Lets see of DA can be one of them.

The writing was on the wall when an undrafted rookie FA picked up the offense faster than a guy who has been on the team since Whisenhunt took over.

Sorry Donald... couldn't disagree more with this. And a comparison the the Vikes and Favre is just wrong. Is Matty really worthy of Favre type treatment?? Really??
You guys keep painting Wiz as some sort of monster?? Just this week, Wolf was talking about how he witnessed, during the first few days of camp, Whiz pulling Stephen Williams aside and "coaching him up". He said it was fascinating as he claims this is hihgly unusual throughout the league.
Anyway, anything short of putting ALL of this on Matty is simply unacceptable to me. The dude had more chances than 90% of NFL QB's ever get, and HE blew it. Nobody else but 'lil Matty! C-ya!!!! :mulli:

I think this is exactly what happened. They met, and Matt said play me or trade me. I have been told one thing and it is another. Time for me to move on. He would have been devisive in the locker room after what he was told, what we were all told was going to be a chance to finally see him play a season. Put your tray and seats in the up right position we are on our descent into NFL mediocraty again. Got to support DA and Whis but this has disater written all over it IMO.
this too...
i'll never forget his first nfl pass fifty yards to boldin
pray to god he doesn't go to seattle, he will rise from the ashe's i just freakin' know it
pete knows how to get the best out of him thats for sure he knows what motivates him and what he's not comfortable with,
he gets up to washington state and he will feel reborn, and his play will show it, thats the way i feel anyway,
but yeah he was done here and whiz now takes the crown from bill walsh as being the shadiest coach in the nfl,
doesn't mean he's not a good coach ,look at walsh he was called a genius and probably was from a football standpoint
but if your not in coach whiz' cliche you get the treatment,

its bullcrap to anoint matt the starter early in the offseason and get up there and say oh matts doing all we ask of him, he is progressing well, were expecting big things, he's got big shoes to fill etc....

and then go sign derrick anderson and announce at training camp, its an open competition,
and in every preseason game when matt was in he never played with beanie, the play calling was conservative and he got yanked early all the time so whiz could look at his old adversary from the afc anderson,

god whiz has an enormous ego, but i think this decision bites us all in the butt a couple of times a year
please matt don't land in seattle:bang:

He didn't even get as many chances as JeMarcus Russell!!! There's no getting around the fact that Leinart's fate has been primarily determined by off the field analysis.

This may be true, but if his past pro coaching jobs are any indication, it doesn't work. At least it hasn't for him.
