but if Matt was that talented, wouldn't you think his college coach would want him over TJ? Or that ANY team who is desperate for a QB would have liked to take a shot with him, even as a stop-gap for teams who just drafted QBs who obviously won't be ready to play this season?

Sure, but I was just commenting on the decision Leinart made. If no one wanted him to compete for the starting job, re-signing with Houston was the right choice. Wish I had that option!

Well, I'll take my crow with a little BBQ if no one minds.

Like everyone else, I can't back a guy who isn't even TRYING to be a starter.

i don't even care about people eating crow. I just hope we can finally put his name to rest around here.

i'm certain we've got much bigger things to complain about soon.

so can we now start to move away from this "Pete Carroll interested with special treatment for all USC players" nonsense?

it might not be utter lack of ambition by Leinart as much as it might be utter lack of interest IN Leinart.

Exactly. Should he retire if he doesn't get a starting job?

What utter lack of ambition by Leinart.

I love it. The guy gets a deal where someone gives him almost 4 million dollars to stand around and watch football for 2 years and be the most popular guy in town in a city filled with some of the hottest women in the World.

Dude's a friggin' genius.

Taking a sweet deal is fine but if this guy doesn't even have enough confidence that he's going to be able to beat out Jackson and Whitehurst or Beck and Grossman(if the Washington interest was even real) then he certainly doesn't deserve any support from anyone else.

He doesn't even support himself, why should anyone else?

What a turd.

I don't know, maybe he just made the smart decision. I wouldn't want to QB for Mike S. and I'd find it difficult to trust the head coach in Seattle. Absent any appealing offers, why not stay someplace that you're wanted at least until the right job cames available.

come on now... there were like 8 starting jobs available. if he couldn't find ONE of those that even sounded somewhat appealing, that kind of speaks volumes on either his motivation or people's interest.

If a guy takes a great job with EA Sports instead of trying to develop his own video games in his garage he's a wimp and a turd and doesn't deserve the support of his family?

if you're a software nut who loves to create games and you take a middling position at EA sports while turning DOWN the opportunity to develop your own game, then yeah... you're probably in the wrong business.

Aha. A guy who took the sweet deal instead of trying it on his own. :D

I could give a rats azz about Leinarts motivation it means nothing to me. He doesn't play for Arizona.

On the other hand having the #2 QB job in Houston for $3.7 million is undeniably one sweet job.
