There is some truth here, Matt has to make things happen and overcome adversity to get that first down. Not blame new faces.

Well at the very least, we know that Leinart will not be signing an extension with the team. Whiz obviously despises the dude and with what he's done since taking over the team, I don't feel like anyone is in position to question his decision-making just yet.

I like it. He is clearly fired up and is NOT happy about it. Even better, he's willing to be vocal about it. Even better, he's still holding back from throwing blame around, while still hinting about it. That kind of discretion is important. Reading between the lines, I sensed he felt he was doing well for not having any kind of running game or pass protection. And I agree wholeheartedly with him there.

Have more than 4 seconds to throw = first downs = more throwing opportunities. And new faces are part of this equation.

The dude is clearly angry that he has had a completely negative (yardage) running game and about a 1 second window to throw the ball behind the garbage pass pro he's gotten. He's angry that the blame is all going to him, and he's 100 percent right. What impresses me is that, even though he's fired up and wanting to point fingers, he doesn't call anyone or any of our units out. I like the interview.

Interesting...he's mad (good thing) and broaches a line of thought that he doesn't feel it was an open competition at the outset, and if it was he doesn't feel he's had an equal opportunity.

Thanks for the firewood, Toast. This fire is a'blazin!

Good for Leinart!! Seriously I am glad he stood up for himself and didnt do the old " well I just need to play better and I am working hard at doing that". This may in fact be exactly what Whis wanted to hear from his QB. I think we have all noticed the lack of fire in Leinart since his rookie year and have all feared that he will back down under pressure. Well maybe he has matured and will step the hell up. I mean truth is Whis has been saying all off season that this is Matt's team and his job. And spoke highly of him all off season and how he has earned this opportunity.

We shall see!!! I am just praying DA is not under center at all this season.

If it’s open competition, I think you need equal opportunity. Who’s to say … I don’t know if that is happening

Bingo I agree with Matt. Boo on Whiz. Give the guy his fair shot.

Just curious... do you guys view Whiz as a players coach? A coach that cna get along with his players, earn their respect and trust? Or, do you see him as some sort of ego freak who is totally distant from his players? Someone who couldn't care any less about connecting with them??

I think he is more of a players coach in the sense that I think he is well respected by the players. I personally dont think he is an ego freak, in fact one of his most attractive qualities is the fact that he is humble yet very confident.

But by his own admission he likes to play mind games and mess with SOME players heads to try and evaluate them or to get more out of them.

Well good for Matt, I aint making the decision either, or we would be playing and practicing in running formations 75% of the time, and once we got better at offensive football fundementals we worry about the forward pass.

Kurt wanted and got 75% pass formations and we ran THT from them as an extra offensive line man in the backfield. The Bean put up 4.5 in hard yardage from our 25% run formations. This needs to flip for Matt and all QB's not named Kurt Warner or Peyton Manning or Dan Fouts.

Mike Miller needs some blame, Russ Grimm needs some blame, Ken Whisenthunt needs some blame for our offensive production and lack of balance. This is not how Russ Grimm made it to the Hall of fame, it is the exact oposite.

Matt is fine with a 90+ QB rating, THT and his WR besides Fitz has sucked, His coach is piling on pressure rather than doing all he can to get this team ready for the Rams.
We need to concentrate on the bread and butter run game for success.

Run is the bread pass is the butter, Butter sucks as a meal all by itself. A little pride in the defense wouldn't hurt either.

He did it last year in the preseason. Time for him to play angry.

As I said in another thread, I think having Beanie in and the currently superior performing second line, he is going to have a much better chance to move the ball, even if it is against second team defenders.

This is a good point, and a strong hint that Leinart will still be the opening day starter. Whiz simply doesn't pull dirty tricks on players; if it was a completely open competition, he definitely would have told Leinart.
