All I got to say about this is he better show up to the end of March mini camp at or around 350 which means he is in shape. If he does that then all will be forgiven in my book. But if he isnt he will have the wrath of:devil:

Arg, I hope this isn't true (but it probably is). There was a post a while back saying he finally started working out with the team

If he comes in out of shape then its, he is lazy and unmotivated.

If he comes in shape then, he is just to lazy to come to AZ 1 month early.

I will reserve judgement on the guys who arent working out with the team yet to see if they come in in shape or out of shape. But thats just me.

Haven't you heard? He is being traded to Sd and their offseason workout program is more relaxed.

At this rate the cards will need 2 G's from somewhere.

If he's in shape when he comes in who cares where he is now? But if he's out of shape, then yeah I'm mad.

Because Denny wants everyone here working together. Not saying I disagree with what you are saying but I would feel alot better if he was coming off a Pro Bowl season and being a bit more relaxed about his absence.

he'll be alright - nothing like lip-o-suction to make up for an offseason of inactivity....

Working in the weight room? If he's missing work at moving to LG, that's different, but I don't think he is yet. I guess working out as a team is a good thing but in todays NFL it's quite common to have your own workouts. Look at McNabb, he's famous for his and they're not at all affiliated with the Eagles. Nobody cares because he's in shape, if he shows up "chunky" they'll all care.

Remember, my main objection to taking Leonard in the first place was his weight, and that we had 2 tackles and if we were drafting him to play guard, we should just move down and take Hutchinson instead. Leonard Davis has ALWAYS had weight problems, that's why they moved him from DT at Texas in the first place.

If he's 350 he's in about as good a shape as he'll ever be, when he's pushing 380 like last year, he's out of shape.

What I DO like about this is that Green is savvy enough to use the media to get out messages to players. You better believe guys are getting the message one way or the other about what's expected of them, I really like that.

Maybe I am way off but don't they meet with their position coaches now? I know they cannot actually practice but aren't they breaking down film or anything now?

Certainly with a whole new offense being put in, it would help to be around.

Maybe I have the wrong impression about workouts this time of year.

I dislike using the media as mouthpiece but if that is Denny's deal, so be it.

During the season I agree, if someone isn't performing, tell him in person. But now I think it's not only ok, it's brilliant, to use the media as a motivational tool for guys who didn't play well last year.

Bryant, Pace, Jones etc all have in one way or another been "called out" by Green as guys he thinks have to play better, and have too much talent not to.

To be honest the only guys I personally am worried about with respect to the new offense are Josh and Bryant Johnson, I hope both of them are very actively learning the system and doing whatever is allowed in working with coaches. Especially Josh he's going to be starting at QB so he has GOT to be putting in OT with Dennis Green.

I just want to see Big in shape, if he's not, trade him.

I think DG should call Leonard at home and say, "hey fatty fat fat, why aren't you working out? Fatty."

Leonard usually works out with his own guy. Last year was the only year he came in "soft"and he had off season ankle surgery did not allow him to run until shortly before camp. Don't worry about Leonard he will be fit and ready to go.

Russ where did you read that the guy always had weight problems?

Granted the guy has always been big as a house but unless Im mistaken one of the raves about him coming out of college was how physically strong he was and the fact that even being so big he only had something like 20% or less body fat. But to be that big and only have that percentage of fat is incredible. Not very indicative of a history of weigth problems?

Go back to during his last year at Texas and you'll see a bunch of posts from Ed B and myself about how Big has always had weight problems and was overrated.

Note, he is huge but the point is he's never been in "elite" shape, thats why they moved him from DT they figured OL required less athletic ability than DT did, plus they had ROgers and Hampton.

FYI Davis in college said his highest weight was 381, and he said he first hit 300 pounds at the age of 13! In this same interview he said he mostly kept his weight in check. I realize the guy is just huge but if he really worked at it he'd be a lot better player at 340-350, he was 370 at the combine and said he was in good shape.

I understand that the guy is huge. But when your body fat has been said to be under 20% and that big at the same time it really isnt indicative of someone being out of shape IMO. So the question to be asked should be is it really bad weight?

I watched the guy doing wind sprints with the rest of the team in the thin flagstaff air last year and he was beating some players you wouldnt expect him to beat. He looked to be in good shape and not to winded even lugging the huge cast around. I even made note of that in my camp report.
