Give Kyler - Jamar, Tee, Boyd, Mixon, CJ and Bengals offensive coordinator… bet there are vastly different results in Kyler’s play. Burrow is a stud, but is known for holding onto the ball too long - def vastly increases his sacks.

Btw, fun fact.. Kyler is nearly a year younger than Burrow.
You could bet that, but it’s 100% conjecture. What we DO know is what has actually happened. One QB has been incredibly clutch in big moments his entire career. One has not. Those are facts.

Not even Patrick Mahomes himself could avoid a second half collapse from a Kliff Kingsbury coached team.. see: Texas Tech, 2015 - 2016.
I’m not going argue Kingsbury’s team dont all fall off the proverbial Kliff in the second half of seasons. I think he should have been fired.

But Kyler is part of that story now whether you like it or not.

Obviously this is the whole point of negotiations. It seems like a weird way to go about it when the Cards control your rights for at least two years.

Because he just became eligible for an extension under the CBA. Until recently, it was against the rules for teams to extend players on their rookie deals until the end of their third season.

It seems weird for Keim and/or Michael not to at least reach out to Kyler and his agent to let them know what the plan was with Kyler's contract as a courtesy.

Can I interest you in Kyler Murray's high school exploits?
Lol

This is such an exaggeration. Kyler has escaped the pass rush and made amazing plays many times. He was sacked 20 times less than Burrow this season and that's not because his OL is better (it's not). Yes, Kyler sometimes is unable to escape the pass rush and goes down too quickly. Burrow has his warts too, if you have watched him play at all you see him take unnecessary sacks, adjust his line into the wrong protectections, and miss reads. This is just peak recency bias.
And by “peak decency bias” you mean the last three-four years for both of them . . . or the only years that actually matter.

I think at present, yes there’s a gulf. Not in natural talent, but in toughness, in terms of reading defenses, in terms of leadership, in terms of being clutch.

And there are other people on the field that impact a game?!? You don’t say. All those years playing linebacker I thought I was just keeping the field warm until the QB could get back on it.

You know what’s gross to me? Blind homerism. It makes actual discussion regarding sports less intelligent.

No one's being a blind homer.

Burrow had a great season, and has played well in the playoffs. But I'm not going to cop to JB being destined to having a better pro career than Kyler. Is it possible? Sure. He's very talented. But Joe has had exactly one great season. He was pretty average in 2020. 89 passer rating for that year.

If you want to assert that having Wesley in place of Hopkins wasn't a factor in Murray's performance decline, okay, you're absolutely free to make that conclusion. But the empirical evidence to the contrary is strong, and that's why I make the point about Murray not being able to do it alone.

K1 was leading the MVP race when he had a top three WR to throw to. Take Hop off the field, and Murray magically "regresses". lol.. okay..

But fine, whatever. Let's continue reading about how Burrow is the second coming, while half the posters here eviscerate their own team's QB for "crapping the bed" against LA, and also negotiating a new contract. It's so much fun.

P.S. so you played college ball. I think that's very cool no matter what level. Still don't like you though. :)

You’re preaching to the choir. The reality is, it took a village to burn down this village. Kliff and kyler (and others) both contributed to the year-over-year meltdowns of the cards the last three seasons.

Come on man. I understand you wanting to defend your QB to a degree but let's not twist facts.

The Cardinals finished with a better record than the Bengals even though they had a tougher SOS. They also had almost exactly the same point differential and points scored.

The Bengals aren't a better team. Burrow just played better, especially when the chips were down.

You can make fun of me if you want. But, Hopkins on the field = Murray plays at an MVP level. Hopkins off the field = Murray looks like he did in 2019 throwing to Fitz and Sherfield and Keyshawn Johnson.

If you don't think it's that simple, okay. Great. We'll agree to disagree.

Lesser Ouchie/Cool Bro #2 here... wondering why you jumped back to 2019 and skipped 2020?

Couldn’t be because in 2020, with Hopkins on the field, Murray sure as hell didn’t look like an MVP down the stretch when he melted down for the first time. I mean, that’s not the reason 2020 slipped your mind, right?

You know I'm a Murray backer too brother, but one guy is about to play for an NFL Championship while the other just cleared out his social media which is often a sign of discontent.

Murray needs to grow up. He needs to realize his body language matters.

Maybe. I get a little of the immaturity vibe too. I hope he overcomes it and stays with the Cardinals for his whole career. But I'll chose the Big Red over Murray if I have too. Just like Mayfield. The second Murray goes to another NFL team, he'll become the enemy. At best a curiosity.

But let's just see how the next 12 months play out.

Lol. I’m fine if you don’t like me. I don’t like or dislike you. You’re a faceless poster on a sports board.

Also you’re moving the goalposts talking about the future. That’s all conjecture. We are talking today. Right now, there’s a definitive gulf between joe and kyler.

So you don’t like burrows 89 passer rating his rookie year. How do you feel about kylers 87 rating his rookie year? Ah, didn’t think to research that before using it as a losing argument?

Also, what happened to kyler last year when he had his top 3 wr down the stretch? Oh yeah, he crapped the bed in the playoff clinching games. In his second season - or the equivalent to burrows second season making the playoffs and all the way to the super bowl. Also note, other than adding chase (which was a big add) all those other weapons existed before and they weren’t going to the playoffs. Know what seems to always make the difference? Hmm, who usually gets the lion share of credit/blame? Oh yeah! The QB.

Also this: this ain’t a one year experience for joe. He won a freaking national championship as a one year starter. Was that a loaded team? Absolutely. But a team will only go as far these days as a QB will take them.

Honestly I think it’s comical that people are even arguing kyler over burrow. I think literally 99% of all football fans would laugh at this argument.

Burrow already has a better pro career than Murray if we are being honest. And a better college career than Kyler as well. I am sure that Kyler's High School record tops his though.

And Murray had a bad shoulder during the last part of 2020, and was playing on one leg in the last game of that season. I know, I know, I'm just "making excuses" about "things that really happened" and that "don't fit your narrative" about Murray. I get it, I get it. you're so right, I'm delusional, while your interpretation of events is unassailable.

And does 87 vs 89 support your argument that Burrow is "tougher" "reads defenses better" and has better "leadership" than K-1?

Why did his performance dip between his amazing year at LSU, and his 2nd year as a pro? He went from "great" at LSU, to okay in his first year as a pro, and then all of these wonderful intangible traits suddenly manifested themselves again in his 2nd year in the NFL. Really? Seriously?

It is so off-putting reading your man-love for Burrow and your disdain for Murry. Worse than off-putting to be honest. I'll give you the last word if you want it, but I'm done discussing this.

I was just going to post something very similar. I've been reading through this thread laughing and shaking my head about the justifications of Murray over Burrow.
I'll say this, put Murray on the Bengals and my guess is they're out in round 1 vs. the Raiders. Put Burrow on the Cards, they may still lose to the Rams, but it wouldn't have been the **** show Murray put out there.

Another point. Look at all the players that have come out and lauded Burrow for his demeanor and leadership. They all say he's got "it". Have we heard any of that about Murray? Burrow is a coach's son and lives football and has his whole life. Murray likes video games.

Burrow's a dude who bet on himself and left OSU. He could've gone to a lesser school but chose LSU and won a National Championship. His competitive streak, leadership, belief in himself, and work ethic is what gets him compared to Brady.

Burrow had the GOAT cfb season is about as accepted as Kingsbury couldnt win with Mahomes. No debate there.

The Joe Burrow fanfic is hilarious. He had one of the most loaded CFB rosters of all time, his GM drafted his top college WR (Hello Steve Keim), he's beat a couple bad teams in the playoffs (the Raiders suck and he beat them with a touchdown that should have been nullified by a bad whistle, the Titans are mediocre, his defense picked Tannehil 3 times, and the Kyler-lead Cardinals smoked them). He beat the Chiefs after getting blown out of the first half because Patrick Mahomes turned in the worst half of football in NFL history. The fact of the matter is Joe Burrow has spent his college and NFL career playing for teams who are more talented than their opponents across the board, while Kyler has had the complete opposite. You want to talk about CFB playoffs, every football fan in existence knows that Oklahoma can't compete with Alabama in talent. They lost to a better team. And everybody in here knows that AZ was completely overmatched, talent and coaching wise, by LA in the playoff game. Not exactly an apples to apples comparison.

Kyler wouldn't beat the Raiders with a loaded roster? Lol.

My guess is the most likely scenario is Kyler wants a new contract and his agent said let me run this but I don't see the point in even worrying about it until we know for sure. I guess it's a cardinals board and that's what we do but until we actually know what's going on we're just guessing.

I find it very hard to minimize what Burrow did this season (after his knee blew up last year) and continued to do in the playoffs. ridiculous

Whole mood would be different here if we got the Cowboys a 2nd time instead of the Rams a 3rd time. Ran into a buzzsaw. Same buzzsaw that had Brady with a QBR of 13 despite still having Mike Evans. Seems like only Shanahan has McVay's # for the most part. Maybe Zac Taylor being a former assistant will give him an advantage in the Super Bowl. Just dont want to see Kliff yucking it up with McVay on his podcast if they win the Super Bowl.

Surprising that the Bengals, with more talent than any team they played, were underdogs in every playoff game they played other than the Raiders. And are dogs versus the Rams. If they win, I'm sure Burrow will have little to do with it and will be a bad call or some other excuse for their win.

Kinsley goes on to note:
His accuracy percentage did dip a bit in the games where he played without DeAndre Hopkins (10/22, or a 45.45% rate), but before that, he was accurate on over 65% of his deep passes (21 of his first 32 passes!)

Loss of Hopkins was huge. Hopefully he stays healthy next year. Still think about adding another guy outside if one slips in the draft.

Kirk is out if Kyler is out.

Ok this is from a couple years ago ;0

I think he wants to be paid now cause its not like Keim is hitting it out of the park with his other draft picks.

That quote from Keim is hilarious. Maybe he should hang his hat on Kyler for draft day, because he seems to be a lot better at identifying talent than Keim.

Kyler wanted CeeDee Lamb and Creed Humphrey. Those would be cornerstone pieces for our team for the next 10+ years.

Instead we got Isaiah Simmons, who was benched for an undrafted guy in our playoff game (I like Isaiah but you can't draft experimental inside linebacker at pick 8), and we took Rondale Moore over Creed. Not to mention the guards Kyler was lobbying for who were neglected in favor of Zaven Collins. Yeah, I think I'd rather have Kyler as GM than Keim.

This post is so comical in so many ways it’s not worth fully addressing. Particularly if you’re out. So I’ll let this one end on my side as well.
