It's been a woe is us beginning to this week and I'm here to brighten up your day. Read on.

The playoff picture as of today is this:
East: Eagles
south: Falcons
North: Packers
west: Seahawks
Now we go to the wild cards. As of now it would be:
Vikings at 6-4
Rams at 5-5 ( wow, 1 whole game behind)

The teams we are competing with besides these 2 teams are:

Giants 5-5 (but we hold the tie breaker)
Saints 4-6 (but we hold the tie breaker)
Lions 4-6 ( who we still play)
Bucs 4-6 ( who we still play)
Bears 4-6 (who cares?)

As bad as we felt after Sundays game this team has an excellent chance to still make a lot of noise and are still in control of our own destiny. It's starting to look like 8-8 might even be good enough.....if you beat the right teams.

You got to admit the Rams are just not the team they use to be. They still have the Packers and the Eagles (and us) on their schedule. The Giants still have the Eagles, Ravens, and Steelers. Safe to say they are not going to "run the table".

I'm not saying to go out and start printing banners proclaiming "Arizona Cardinals 2004 Wild Card", but it is going to be the team that catches fire these last 6 games that is going to slip in.

I AM saying that it's way to early to abandon ship. The NFL now stands for " NO FRICKIN LOGIC". We could lose 1 more game(maybe 2) as long as it isn't against the Rams, Lions, and Bucs...and still make the playoffs.

So as fans, lets pick ourselves off the deck, just like we expect our team to do. It's not a time to feel sorry for ourselves and just give up. Dansby and Berry will be back. Pennington is out. We're at home. Maybe things aren't as bad as they appeared on Sunday night.

Given the Cards play on the road, I think we can forget about wins at Detroit or Seattle. That means running the table at home against the Jets, Niners, Rams, and Bucs.

One game at at time!

Great post! I am still optimistic about this season, and definitely about the future. Green will right this ship. I really really dislike his decision to start King and then stick with him, but hey he is the HC and definitely knows alot more about winning football games than I do.

I hope Berry is alot better, we need him. He was playing most of the first 1/2 and that is when we got beat down the most!

Now we go to the wild cards. As of now it would be:

Vikings at 6-4 - Currently in a lull, with no momentum going for it. Randy Moss may instill some if he comes back healthy in a big way. Iffy chances of making it.

Rams at 5-5 - On a roller coaster ride every week, momentum is downward, but they have the ability to turn it around immediately; Martz hinders their chances. Probably in.

The teams we are competing with besides these 2 teams are:

Giants 5-5 (but we hold the tie breaker) - Downward slide continues, and Manning won't make a difference this late in the season. Count them out.

Saints 4-6 (but we hold the tie breaker) - Momentum roller coaster, look for them to make a good run over the next 3 or 4 weeks and be one of the players down the stretch. Iffy chances of making playoffs

Lions 4-6 ( who we still play) - Joey Harrington is not the answer. Count them out.

Bucs 4-6 ( who we still play) - Gruden holds a big edge against the other coaches still in it if he can just string a couple wins together. Less than iffy chances

Bears 4-6 (who cares?) - Playing some inspired football under Lovie, but they have a house of cards ready to tumble. Count them out of the play-off run.

Cardinals - Denny Green imploded this team and they have absolutely no mo' going for them. Denny Green seems intent on making everything said about him - both the good and the bad - come to life all in one season. It's almost as if he's more concerned about creating and validating this reputation for the fans and media, rather than focusing on football x's and o's. Count them out, although they do have a favorable schedule to make some noise.

Unfortunately they'll be playing against other contenders nearly every week from here on out and that'll be a little bit too much to over come.

Team colors or as close as I could get from the palette that is provided. If you have any pull, could you get Skkorpion to upgrade to the 16 million color wheel.

That'd be great.

1-3 in the first quarter of the season.

2-2 in the second quarter.

1-1 so far in the third quarter.

It would be nice if we could go 2-0 to finish the third quarter, then 3-1 in the fourth would leave us at 9-7.

If we HAD to lose a game in the third quarter, a good one to lose would be Carolina in Carolina. They can't catch us unless they win out. Detroit is more important for us to win, but our three conference games, if we win them, our chances look pretty good. Seattle needed a defensive TD late in the game, to beat Miami at home.

Way too soon to give up hope.

I'm sure Green isn't concerened at all about wins and losses  .And if he's trying to validate everything he has said, i believe one of the first things he said was this team will be in the playoffs.

Are we watching the same team? Where do you Green haters come up with this stuff? I don't get it. What is Denny doing that isn't focusing on winning football games? In general recent history, I can't recall the last time a Cardinal team game-planned better than this season.
Face it, the main problem is we're just not talented enough at all positions to be a consistent force........yet.

for as good as you are making avatars, your post is really lacking creativity. I cant even respond to this apparent DG bashing with a straight face :biglaugh:

C'mon clif, it's not DG bashing in any way whatsoever. Having an opinion, based on research and history isn't bashing.

I never went off on Denny. I'm just saying he has some character flaws that don't serve him well as a leader of a modern day NFL team.

I don't know what history books you are reading but if there is 1 thing Denny has going for him it is a history of football success.

The Cards cant win on the road, are 4-6, have two atrocious starting QB's, and a defense that is apprently getting pissed at being on the field so damn long.

Denny has a history of turning programs around. Denny has a history of winning a fair number of football games.

Denny doesnot have a history of "football success" as it properly defined.

Oh I see, you are one of those "win it all or you are a total failure" guys. By your standard Barry Switzer is a better NFL coach than Green.

Yes.

He's not a better person than Denny Green. But he is a more successful NFL coach than Green.

I checked the record books. It's true.

this is the most assinine thing I've ever read. You're also changing your argument here - the argument isn't who's more successful - you put a monkey on that Dallas squad with the talent they had and they win a title - especially after the Niners laid an egg against the Packers a week earlier.

And more successful? Did you check their records - or how many division titles they won - with teams they built? Swizter rode the JJ gravy train all the way home to the bank and then quickly destroyed that team.

You are illustrating that you are more clueless each and every day.
