All the recent reports are pointing to Breaston being allowed to leave via free agency - I believe its a horrible move. Breaston has heart and is a great guy with great talent, no reason he cant stay our number two. Roberts proved he has the talent to be someone but I wouldnt bank on him for our entire season next year. Also, I dont want to draft a WR, resigning breaston and keeping all the WRs we have now we can focus on positions we truly need instead of picking more recievers. Along with all this, Fitz is in danger of leaving and if we lose fitz and breaston we wont have anyone to throw the ball to.

Im not sure how important it is to have wr's when you have no QB.

Not that I want him to go but I doubt the QB will be resolved until Whiz I think Whiz has a proven history of making QB's hate him. Notice Watrner didnt even want to hang around for like 12 million when he saw what life was like without Haley.

Great to have a few Porches at WR but if you dont have gas whats the point?

We need a GM short and simple. Breaston, Lyle, Deuce and Patrick were low balled, The FO knew they were the players getting screwed in this CBA year, even to toss them a workout bonus last offseason would have been huge.

We played like they managed in 2010.

Look at the Rams to see how important QB is. No wr's and a good QB and playoffs. We are the anti-rams lol

Breaston will command upwards of $8 million per year on his new contract, with maybe $20 million guaranteed. Are you interested in tying up $22-25 million per year on two WRs for the next five years? Because I'm not.

The Franchise number for WRs will be about $10 million.

I'd rather have strengths over weaknesses.
Losing him would create an unneeded hole eventually.
It's also going to continue to re-enforce that good players will be financially rewarded for coming (or staying) in AZ.

If the new CBA still allows for franchise tagging, you give it to him w/o thought. As it stands, our WRs in 2011 are Fitz followed by Early "glass jaw" Doucet (RFA), Andre Roberts, Stephen Williams and Max Komar.

We can't hire a real GM IMO.

If you hire a GM then you can't save a ton of money at will and bank it.

The GM will tell on you after he gets fired.

Breaston is exactly the kind of guy I would try to keep, he's a warrior, great team mate, all around great roster addition.

Players need to be evaluated, after that they cost what they cost, we're so far under the cap it's ridiculous to worry about if he's worth his market value, he is.

Just so we're clear, you're comfortable with giving Steve Breaston, a guy who had zero impact in the Cards last win, $10 million for one year. For one season, you're willing to give the NFL's 46th leading receiver in yardage, 81st in receptions, and ONE touchdown catch $10 million?

I like Steve Breaston, but the time to re-sign him to a nice $6 million per year contract was last season. Do some research, guys, and see what some of the second-tier WRs in the NFL got on extensions last season, and ask yourselves if you want to tie up 20% of the Cards' cap money on TWO players who touch the ball a COMBINED 10 times a game.

Which of our guys are facing free agency this offseason, both RFA and UFA?

Breaston is an Az Hakim type? Solid as a #3, servicable as a #2, but not worth paying a lot for to keep.

Off the top of my head, I know that Breaston, Lutui, Faneca (I think) are all guys who will be UFAs. I don't think there are other top-line guys. Maybe Mike Adams.

The important RFAs are Doucet, Hightower, B. Keith, L. Sendlein(?).

I think the Colts paid Wayne and Harrison something like a combined $27 million in 2006 in salary. Indy's payroll that year was the highest in the NFL, 131 million per USA Today. Two years later it was in the low 90's.

Do you think Breaston can command the same type contract that Roddy White got from the Falcons? I think White's cap hit for 2009 was around $8 million with $6 million in signing bonus.

So let's get a WR the caliber of one of those Colt receivers!

Breaston, Lutui, Ben Graham, and Sendlien - Are probably our top 4 off the top of my head.

Watson, Branch, Adams and Faneca - Are probably the next tier of most notable ones off the top of my head.

Doucet, Hightower, Iwebema, and Keith - Are the notable RFA's off the top of my head.

What is the average number of contract Graves gets done in a re-signing period?

Kind of

Well DD, Fitz and AW are the only drafted Cards resigned since Whiz has been here, Our best signing was probably Bridges for 2 years.

Thats in five years with our first SB involved!

Lyle, Deuce, Patrick and Breaston are RFA's under current CBA. went from 4-6 years on the Owners choice not to use the option.

Way more than half the team is not signed, rookie contracts and FA like Porter, Hadnot, Haggins, Rhodes is a blessing.

Well if the Owners turn to scrubs and lock out the union we should be ahead of the game, When the players union cracks and breaks and Players drop the Union and cross the picket line, current contracts in place, we are screwed.

We only get the players back that some other team doesn't want. Cause it still sucks to be Cardinal, We proved that by the way we took care of our SB squad, Don't let the door hit you, where the good lord split you!

Draft Green, and I can live with losing Breaston. Solve the pass rush issue by bringing in Woodley via free agency. Bing Bang Boom.

letting Breaston get to this point and forcing him to play injured because we didn't extend him two years ago when we could have had him on a sensible deal moving forward is just another notch in the belt of Rod Graves' idiocy.

About the same as any other GM. May not be the players you like or want but I see no difference with other GM's over the last 3 years prior to this one where we had one of the biggest roster turnovers in the NFL.

All this talk of no talk has historically meant good things would be happening.

When ever the Cards, agent, and player refuse to comment on negotiations (as in this case) it usually means something is about to or will get done.

So until March 1st happens when his contract is up, or a later date if and when a new CBA gets done and there is most likely a re-signing period extension I would worry to much about it IMO.
