Has outstanding size-very big boned with a thick lower body. Very good run blocker who can drive defenders off the ball. Shows good in line power, a good surge, and the ability to finish blocks. Plays with great balance. Reaches effectively and can cover defenders up. Very good eyes. Makes good decisions to switch off blocks and pick off the most immediate threat. Accelerates to the block point. Good hand placement. Plays physical and has an outstanding 6 inch punch to shock defenders. Has a strong anchor, good mass and can drop his base to build a fort. Can handle bull rushers.

Footwork and technique need refinement. He slides and shuffles instead of kicksliding, and as a result does not get enough depth and width to handle good speed rushers. Is a bit high cut and struggles some handling inside counter moves, letting defenders cross his face. Some mental lapses show up in his play.

A four year starter in a big time program with a high ceiling. Not as nimble footed as Brick or Alex Barron but he is more physical and plays with more power. Footwork is easily correctable but will require some patience by a good o line coach. He has all the ability teams seek in a frontline tackle. Might be more natural on the right side, but could handle the left side if he corrects his feet. A smarter Jamal Brown.

How can Joe Pa be regarded as such a great coach yet it seems anytime someone comes out of Penn State there are alot of question marks.

Suppose Joe Thomas does not fall to us I, as some other writers, would like us to trade down some spots and take someone besides Levi Brown.

Not too thrilled about him and getting, let us say, Patrick Willis and a extra pick in the third round would in my oppinion be better than getting Levi Brown.

Joe Staley or Tony Ugoh are probably not that bad anyway.

He's one of the best college coaches of the last 50 years, in my opinion. That's why I used to hate him and his team so much. There is no doubt he's stayed too long.

And he shall be Levi...And he shall be a good man...And he shall be Levi...Not withstanding the "family" plan...

Very simple: Being a good college football coach means that you make the most of the players that you have and win as many games as possible. He has done that for like 40 years now.

We need someone to play LT. I may be an idoit but I would rather have a rookie play LT than Wells or Ross. If we don't get Thomas then I hope we get the 2nd best LT in the draft.

I changed it. In tradition with the family plan would net us LJ Shelton and Big. :)

I like the Grey Seal song. Dunno what album.

You wouldn't be an idiot. In fact, I wouldn't mind it if both of our tackles were rookies.

If Grimm really is the best OLine coach in the league, you want to take someone who would follow everything that he says. A rookie would be much more willing to do that than a veteran. Starting OLine rookies isn't the best idea, but in our case, the unknown is probably better than the known.

That said, I know it won't happen.

 Neither am I. I am high on Green!

When it comes to OL I really do not have a clue and leave it to our staff to hopefully select the best guy available. Most of us only see some of these guys a couple of times on TV. Our coaches hopefully look at every game they ever played in college on slow motion film, talk to their past coaches, check their history for crime, and do an in depth character study, in depth interview for those first several picks.

When I read how some of the NFL teams research these guys and analyize them I was totally amazed. I hope our team does as much as some of the teams I read about.

No one should know better about Levi than Wis and Grimm, being that he played right down the road. If they take him, you can bet it's for a reason.

From nfldraftcountdown.com;

He has everything you look for physically and is certainly battle tested but you wonder if his demeanor may prevent him from reaching his full potential...The type who could either anchor an offensive line or end up really disappointing you.

Lacks a mean streak and may not have that killer instinct...Is not overly powerful or aggressive...Is not a great technician...Somewhat inconsistent player who can be dominant at times and a bit lackadaisical at others...Needs to play with better leverage...It's not a given that he'll be able to stay at left tackle once in the pros.

Didn't this guy just move from the Cards to the Cowboys?

You missed out:

Has excellent size with a huge frame and long arms...A superb athlete with good quickness for his size...Moves well and has nimble feet...Once he is able to lock on it's over...Slides well and can handle speed off the edge...Strong and able to stun with his initial punch...Solid run blocker who gets a pretty good push...Has 4 years of starting experience versus top competition...Smart, hard working and a leader.

I think Brown has a lot of upside .. I just don't like reading about him being so inconsistant and lacking a mean streak .. sounds too much like Davis ..
