So is realizing you are about to throw an interception and throwing it anyway.

/Rex Greiseman.

:)

You're deliberately changing the point (albeit for comedic value :D ) The decision to throw it to a receiver OR throw it away has to be made immediately, one way or the other; second-guessing will get you sacks and fumbles.

I think I agree with you.

Is it hard for anyone else to imagine a future where:
- We play Matt at any costs to develop him, including taking a few extra Ls.
- Matt is slow to improve, resulting in a couple of 4 to 5 win seasons.
- Matt starts to improve in the final year of his contract.
- However Matt is expected to command top-dollar in the FA market and the cards don't want to use the franchise tag.
- After Matt has signed a bank-busting deal with another team, he is quoted as saying "We never did win much in Arizona......"

This is the dopey "let's set outselves up for the future" mentality that led us to being the armpit of the NFL and had guys like Plummer, Garrison Hearst and Rice running for the hills the first chance they get.

You create competition at every position and the best players play. Period. You play to win the games.

Beautifully done. You get my vote for post of the day.

Donald, Matt Leinart is 24 years old. At 24, character is already formed. To borrow a much overused cliche, he is what he is.

Spin it over and over, it changes nothing. Can he develop into a good NFL QB? Of course. He has talent. That has nothing to do with character.

Bill Romanowski, Michael Vick, Ray Lewis and many many many other great players are scum. (Not implying Matt is scum. He's not) Frankly, it doesn't matter in terms of football.

I will say this: I think it's clear Matt Leinart despises Whisenhunt. Given that, Leinart is probably not our QBOF. The coach/QB relationship must be better than that for it to work.

If the relationship improves quickly, good. If it festers as time goes on, it will be severed. We'll know by spring 2008 when off-season workouts take place.

That's what I believe.

Wow...not sure where you're getting that from. I don't get any such vibe. Yeah, he's frustrated...but I have seen/heard nothing to imply any feelings he has towards Whis.

I'm pretty sure he's not happy with him at all, but I'm not sure about despising him. It may seem like a long time ago (and before the dual-QB system), but Leinart was the first to hug Whisenhunt after his first win.

They need not be friends, in fact they better not be. I think Leinart respects Whisenhunt, which is enough. He knows what he needs to do, and is frustrated, but he wants nothing more than to make the switching unnecessary.

Don't know why this was addressed to me. I didn't bring up character at all.

Not a bad post Skkorp... I'm not totally sold on the "rift" between Matty and Whiz, however, I feel quite certain Whiz isn't putting up with his attitude and his ineffectiveness. If that right there causes a "rift", well, I'm also quite certain that no matter where Matty chooses to play after he's done feuding with Whiz, he will experience an equal amount of distrust and the resulting treatment...

Matt proclaimed the Cards "his team". Well Matty - how 'bout you step up and put some action behind your words son?? Play like this is "your team". Which means loving football Monday thru Saturday - not just on Sunday...

Sorry Matt you had your chance.

Suck it up. This organization cannot have another losing season waiting on a player to "mature"

We need to WIN. W-I-N.

You think Boldin cares about Matt's feelings? NO! He cares about winning.

Leinart should shut his mouth and play his role, and be happy we are winning.

Matt Leinart has one of the most potent passing attacks at his disposal, so any area of improvement that is needed is on his part.

This situation is getting blown out of proportion.

Hey, I have a long history of misreading all kinds of stuff, especially about QBs.

I remember arguing for months that Ryan Leaf would be a great QB because he was tough, as well as talented, whereas Peyton Manning was a soft loser who couldn't win the biggest games in college.

Good post.

If Leinart doesn't like and wants out. FINE.

I can care less, as long as we keep winning, and playing well.

There isn't a QB in the league that wouldn't want this gig now that the line is playing better.

Two all pro WR's, an all pro RB, and a decent OL ? Leinart has an ideal situation and has yet to lead this team to any kind of lead. Yet, he wants us to "die" with him. Sorry, Matt the Arizona Cardinals have been dying for too long to wait for you to poop or get off the pot.

My hope is that Matt continues to progress over the course of the year and that we see less and less of Warner. I think that is what Whiz wants.

Don't get me wrong, it's not that I dislike Warner, but the future of this team depends on Matt coming to grips with what Whiz expects from the QB postion.

It's tough love. But Matt will be better because of it. Something that Ben Rothlisberger should understand when he is getting all this man-love from the sports media.

Rugby, I think you are reading too much into this dude. Matt was using a figure of speech.

He wants to be the leader of this team. And generally, teams live and die by their leaders in the NFL.

I think Matt took a step forward on Sunday. He did lead us to a crucial TD. And that 4th and 1 reminded me a heck of alot like that Notre Dame game in his college career (sorry, Skorp).

The fact he was drinking sauvignon blanc is the worst part about this. Cmon, Matt how about knocking back a boilermaker or something a little more manly?
