- After Matt has signed a bank-busting deal with another team, he is quoted as saying "We never did win much in Arizona......"

This is the dopey "let's set outselves up for the future" mentality that led us to being the armpit of the NFL and had guys like Plummer, Garrison Hearst and Rice running for the hills the first chance they get.

I will say this: I think it's clear Matt Leinart despises Whisenhunt. Given that, Leinart is probably not our QBOF. The coach/QB relationship must be better than that for it to work.

If the relationship improves quickly, good. If it festers as time goes on, it will be severed. We'll know by spring 2008 when off-season workouts take place.

Wow...not sure where you're getting that from. I don't get any such vibe. Yeah, he's frustrated...but I have seen/heard nothing to imply any feelings he has towards Whis.

I'm pretty sure he's not happy with him at all, but I'm not sure about despising him. It may seem like a long time ago (and before the dual-QB system), but Leinart was the first to hug Whisenhunt after his first win.

They need not be friends, in fact they better not be. I think Leinart respects Whisenhunt, which is enough. He knows what he needs to do, and is frustrated, but he wants nothing more than to make the switching unnecessary.

Not a bad post Skkorp... I'm not totally sold on the "rift" between Matty and Whiz, however, I feel quite certain Whiz isn't putting up with his attitude and his ineffectiveness. If that right there causes a "rift", well, I'm also quite certain that no matter where Matty chooses to play after he's done feuding with Whiz, he will experience an equal amount of distrust and the resulting treatment...

Matt proclaimed the Cards "his team". Well Matty - how 'bout you step up and put some action behind your words son?? Play like this is "your team". Which means loving football Monday thru Saturday - not just on Sunday...

Rugby, I think you are reading too much into this dude. Matt was using a figure of speech.

He wants to be the leader of this team. And generally, teams live and die by their leaders in the NFL.

I think Matt took a step forward on Sunday. He did lead us to a crucial TD. And that 4th and 1 reminded me a heck of alot like that Notre Dame game in his college career (sorry, Skorp).
