Hey guys, new here. HUGE Lions fan. Being that is the offseason for all but NE and NY, i thought id join this forum to talk football and learn a little about Cardinals football. First off, aint it nice to go into an offseason and NOT worry about the CBA?!

Im just kinda curious what the state of the Cardinals franchise is. What is the teams biggest needs going into the offseason. Is there a favorite player every Cardinals fan wants in the draft?

Ive heard some say QB, OL..

Being a Lions fan, it seems "team needs" is the biggest topic lol. Of course, we had a good year this year, but there still is a lot of room for improvement if the Lions want to go any further.

I hope you dont mind me hanging around until the draft and joining in some discussions.

Thanks guys!

What interest do you have in the Cardinals? I was rooting for the Lions myself in the playoffs to go from 0-16 to the Super Bowl in 3 years. We still need an established franchise QB and many are still having doubts about the Kolb trade. You guys have one of the best talents at QB in Stafford, 5000 yards and only 23, thats unbelievable. It is too hard to survive in this era without a franchise QB and we probably overpaid in desperation. Only time will tell and if we fix our OL if the investment was worth it, but none of our guys are looking top 10 material. Pass rushers and a legit 2nd receiver are also needs besides QB and OL.

Your welcome here. We even have some respectful seahag and whiner fans here.

We've been discussing needs.

In order of needs - LT, SOLB 3/4, ILB, RG, CB, QB, WR, S, for starters.

Manning and what the Colts will do with a 28Mil bonus due, is a hot topic right now.

Prospects this board really likes for this team where we are AT in the draft, #13 include DeCastro, Upshaw, Perry, Ingram, Martin, Keuchly and possibly D. Still.

I, myself, am really high on DeCastro, though some may question taking one at 13. Based on your team needs and who will likely be available at 13, looks like it could be hard to fail.

With that bunch it would be. Not a bad pick amoung them probobly. Martin may take a little time to develop. The rest could be plugged in from the get go almost.

Some want us to trade down with Clevland maybe to get the 2nd we lost in the Kolbe trade.

You and me both.

Who do you see Detriot targeting?

I've always considered Lions fans to be the only ones who have suffered as intensely as Cardinals fans have. So, I was hoping you guys would beat the Saints and go on from there.

Our needs are OT and OT and that's it for round one.

I think in FA, its gonna be safety. I would want them to draft Mark Barron, but who knows. In the draft, I see them going BPA, but unfortunately im confident they have RB in mind once again. Jahvid Best is one more concussion away from retiring and who knows if LeShoure will ever be the back we drafted considering his big injury in training camp.

Personally, id like to see them target OG, LB, S, but it will be best player available.

needs? We need LT, RT, and #2 WR for players and I want an OC, but that doesn't look likely. Who do I want in the draft? Kalil, but that wont happen. DeCatro or Martin are more reasonable. If we can somehow pick up Peyton, that would be amazing, but would still only be a band-aid on the franchise QB situation that I hope Whiz takes better advantage of than when we had Warner

Lions are actually the only NFC team I like, outside of the Cards of course. Your FO did some great things with your picks. I hope Suh gets his act together, he seems like a good kid that just gets too carried away at times

Right on Loins Fan, yall are finally headed in a good direction after losing the real Sanders and drafting 18 receivers in the first round. Your fans are smart enough to call for the heads of the higher ups (live during a national game), and now you guys got it going on.

I was a Bears fan before we got a club in Az so I can't quite enjoy the Cubs recent success the way you do, but knowledge is key and you seem to be one of those cool fans looking for that extra prospective. I kick it on the Chicken forum sometimes so I can dig it.

Aloha. :)

Welcome Lions Fan,-----we are still determining our QB situation as Kolb is still a question as opposed to the answer, and Skelton is still erratic with his footwork, (thus his accuracy). We need solid upgrade at both OT's, and a fast #2WR to take coverage away from Larry Fitzgerald. We are interviewing for a QB coach, so maybe help for our QB's is on the way.

I am anxious to see what we do in Free Agency, so I can see how our draft might shape out. Would be nice to get some O-line help in FA, especially at OT. If we can come up with a solid OT in Free Agency, the draft looks to be better for us overall. We would still have a shot at another OT, or a G there. We could use another rush OLB, and another ILB, both 3-4 types.

To me it seems critical to get Calais Campbell resigned at DE, as he and Darnell Docket make up a great DE front. I am really happy to have a whole off-season with OTA's and camps with time to work on schemes and techniques. We really took a hit on that last year. Many youngsters were forced into battle without benefit of an off-season.

I agree with what's been posted before. Our most urgent needs are 2 offensive tackles, speedy #2 wide receiver, pass rusher and a pro-bowl punter. An upgrade at right guard would also help. And at some point we'll need to add cornerback and inside LB depth. DeCastro might be our best option at #13 overall.

Hey thanks everyone. Nice to get a good welcoming. Sometimes you get some people that really dont appreciate you being here because you arent "one of them".

Thats really interesting that everyone is on the same page about what the Cardinals need, and it sounds like OT is by far the most pressing need. As far as tackles go, at this point im even wondering if Reiff will be there. Martin should.

Just after the draft last year, I heard that Detroit offered Arizona a huge trade deal to move up and take Patrick Peterson, but Arizona turned it down. I cant remember what it was, but I can look it up if anyone is interested.

Ok here it is. The Lions offered their 1st, 2nd, and 4th round picks to move up to get Peterson. Guess the Lions were pretty desperate!

Report: Lions tried to trade up to get LSU's Patrick Peterson in NFL draft

The Lions did not take a cornerback in last week's NFL draft, but it wasn't for a lack of effort.

NFL.com reported Friday that the Lions tried to trade up and draft Louisiana State cornerback Patrick Peterson, the top defensive back available, in the first round.

According to a person familiar with the talks, the Lions offered the Arizona Cardinals first-, second- and fourth-round choices for the Cardinals' pick, No. 5 overall.

No wonder why the Cards turned it down, that's a horrible offer. The Falcons gave up way more than that to get Julio Jones, and that was for the 6th overall pick. Maybe NFL GM's feel like Rod Graves is a gullible moron who will accept practically any trade, who knows...but that's an extremely low-ball offer.

Recently my little brother, who wasn't much of a football fan, decided to pick a team to root for. Based on their recent success, he chose the Lions. He had no real idea of their past history and I tried to tell him that he's in for a lifetime of pain..... all to no avail... RIP little bro

Ya, but the Falcons also moved up 21 spots, the Lions were trying to move up 8 spots.
