Lt. Col. Bill Cage (Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop—forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again…and again.

But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Blunt). And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy.

Based on the acclaimed novel "All You Need is Kill" by Hiroshi Sakurazaka.

I have some friends that saw a rough cut of this back in November with no effects and they loved it, and have been singing it's praises every since.

I thought it was an excellent, fun summer sci-fi action flick, with some good humor, smartly done. And I'd love to thank the director for the yummy Emily Blunt push up off the floor, all sinuous and sexy, which was shown about fifty times :D

I saw it again tonight because I HAD to take my brother, sister-in-law, their two sons and her Mom to see it. They all LOVED it. As did I! SO GOOD AGAIN.

I was kinda bummed to see that it didn't do that well in the box office over the weekend, but this theater was packed on a Monday night no less, so I'm hoping that this is one of those that stays around and builds momentum based on word of mouth.

Oh and on a final note; I know I've said this in many other threads of her other films, but it bears repeating...

Emily Blunt is Hot!

Should have stuck with the original title, IMHO.

Haven't seen it but the plot sounds like 12 Monkeys?

Nothing like 12 monkeys except a loose time travel theme but even that is drastically different than 12 monkeys.

Crap...I can't wait to see this. Would have seen it over the weekend but my son qualified for the National History Bee so I was in Atlanta all weekend. Need to go see this ASAP.

saw it today and was pretty damn entertained right up until the last 10 minutes when the movie seemingly fell apart at the seams. that ending was pretty terrible, IMO...not to mention it made no sense to me whatsoever.

I think...
...when he killed the "boss", he got it's power of time manipulation and he made sure she killed it the first time? Kind of threw me as well - since it wasn't the "normal reboot".

My theory:

Getting covered in the alpha's blood gives you the power to reset the day. So sinking into a pool, being completely submerged in the Omega's blood enabled him to go back further than one day, so he was able to reset time even further but the Omega was still dead because the "energy surge" of that whole event carried over during the reset and so it was still killed in the past.

So he's reset back 2 days, giant energy surge as that happens, Omega dead, humanity survives he can go on to have sex with Emily Blunt in the future, everybody wins... :)

Doesn't really bother me though it was still a greatly entertaining film.

I thought the same thing as you, but I think I like ASF's version better! Except the Emily Blunt part.

This movie was awesome. I thought the ending was a tad confusing but I kind of had the same thoughts as those above.

What the hell are people waiting for? Great summer popcorn movie. Great sci-fi. I might just go see it a second time.

Yeah I've already seen it twice but if one of my friends was like hey wanna go see EOT I'd be like heck yeah!

Big time spoiler!
Just a fun movie. The part where he is just first getting the hang of things he rolls under the truck and when he gets squashed he lets out that scream??? Honestly, I haven't heard an ENTIRE theater laugh that hard simultaneously in a long time. That whole sequence had both audiences I've seen it with howling... That's good summer movie making right there!

Also the 'female soldier' character was kindof annoying, but her delivery of the line "Ha! Jinx Bitch!" made me laugh as hard as anything. :biglaugh:

This was absolutely outstanding. Instead of wasting your money at Transformers. go see a good sci fi movie.

Totally agree. Great movie. I would have tweaked a few things about the end.

Interesting that Cruise has put back to back solid scifi movies that didn't do so well at the BO..

It really is unfortunate that he's turned off the public by being such a loon. For my money, you don't get a more reliable performance than Tom Cruise. The guy just makes good movies lately.

yup. even Knight And Day was passable entertainment. That said, if anyone can tell me what the hell the title has to do with the movie I'll give them my next paycheck.

Yeah, saw this today at the cheap theaters with my kids and it was great! As much as I've enjoyed a movie in quite a while. Was surprised by how funny it was. well done!

As the movie rolls on tomorrow is the beach invasion, so he only has the day before to end it. He manages to do it late at night just before D-day.. that's my guess and I'm sticking to it. :)
