yup. even Knight And Day was passable entertainment. That said, if anyone can tell me what the hell the title has to do with the movie I'll give them my next paycheck.

Because he keeps teetering on the "Edge of Tomorrow" and today? Disregard. That explanation sounded dumber than the title.

A fun movie. Hopefully we will see more scripts with scenes of Emily Blunt sweaty and slowly arching her back.

It really is unfortunate that he's turned off the public by being such a loon. For my money, you don't get a more reliable performance than Tom Cruise. The guy just makes good movies lately.

It really puzzles me when people (like my sister) won't see an actor's movies because he/she is loony or of the opposite political party. I don't care if Cruise is a tea party necrophiliac.... He makes damned entertaining movies.

Note to cheesebeef: We really enjoyed Knight and Day. Funny, funny fluff and spoof.

note to Chris: so did I. I just can't figure out what the title has to do with anything in the movie.

I just figured they were pretty much opposites early on and he was her Shining Knight in Armor, hence Knight and Day.

Knight is Tom Cruise's real family name in the movie. No one seems to know where the "Day" came from....

I'll admit I forgot that he was originally named Knight but I think the rest of it still applies. They were opposites and he was her Knight in shining armor.

I believe I saw an interview or read somewhere it was simply a play on words for that saying using the family name Knight.

Just finished watching this. Awesome movie, but man I wish the ending wasn't so damn confusing. Was it just a cop out as they didn't know how to end it or wanted us to all have to think about it? Good movie anyways.

Saw this earlier in the summer, agree with what others have said. Really entertaining, great action and a lot of legitimately "laugh out loud" funny moments.

However, yes, the ending is a bit confusing and a I think a cop out. I get the idea of wanting the shining happy ending, but IMO if thats what they were going for they could have done it in a way that did not seem to violate some of the rules setup earlier in the film.

But still a really good flick. Tom Cruise is a basket case in really life but that guy can carry a movie like very few actors. Very rare that I come away not liking one of his movies. The only exceptions are when he has tried too hard to make a deep film with a shallow premise (Vanilla Sky, Eyes Wide Shut).

I liked Vanilla Sky due to its weirdness/futuristic ideas.

I don't blame them for trying to figure out why the movie flopped, since it was actually a good movie--both critics and audiences liked it.

Just seems weird. I heard it was going to be marketed a bit differently for On Demand and DVD/Blu-Ray, I just never thought they would make a complete name change this late in the game...

agreed. i can't remember a movie of this type of pedigree getting a name change solely for the post-theatrical market.

one of two things happened here. marketing just totally blew this movie or people are just really turned off from Cruise after all these years. personally, I think he's a loon, but he's a damn fine action star (probably the best in the business still... and actually a good actor in general) and he's usually getting my money when his movies come out.

Combination.

Cruise turns people off.

New name is much, much better :)

From the previews, it was hard to tell what was happening.

It sucks because I still think this was one of the best films of the summer. It was so much fun! Yeah there were some weird parts at the end and I heard a lot of people confused walking out of the theater, but I will take that over a terrible movie with a predictable ending any day.

I liked it a lot and it sucks that more people didn't go see it yet garbage like transformers keeps on raking in the dough.

I just dont get people who dont go see movies because of personal issues with the actors. Especially when the issue isn't moral it's just some objection to their religion... I saw tons of people say online; "I'm not seeing this because Tom Cruise is a crazy Scientology guy.. How dumb!

Example: My brother REFUSES to go see any Tom Hanks movie anymore because of his "politics" I'm like wow that's so dumb bro, he still makes awesome movies and he's still a phenomenal actor. I just dont get that mentality. This person doesn't think exactly like I do or believe what I do so I wont watch their movies. Seems like a very un-American idea if you ask me...

when you factor in P&R, it might not even break even. probably takes a small loss.

According to boxoffice.com the total budget including P&A was $225,000,000. The movie has a worldwide gross of $363,880,222. That's not including home sales yet either.

It didn't make it's budget back DOMESTICALLY but overall the movie looks like it's going to be very profitable. $138 million plus whatever they make in home movie sales. I don't think the Studio is crying about that. Although, I am sure they had higher expectations.

It had great reviews and was an great movie. It kills me to see how fickle our society has become by letting some stupid couch jumping incident or his weird religion turn them off from a great movie. That's the only thing I can think of because almost everybody I know who went to see this loved it. The critics loved it.

Says here they invested over $100 million in marketing on top of the $178 Million:
