I've been interesed in Lue for a while, but his contract precluded making a suggestion.

What attracted me was his profile - very quick, good shooter, good defender. His youtube clip is actually informative in that it reinforces the comments that he can "make his own shot". He's very smooth with the pull up jumper and still can get to the hole.

Here is an early season game with the Hawks were Lue scores 19 points and also makes some nice feeds

As a Hawks fan, I wouldn't put much faith in that profile. Lue can shoot (a little streaky at times) and doesn't mind the pressure of taking the last shot. That's about it as he gets abused on D, is not a PG as he doesn't have the skills and vision to run an offense. Yeah he's got a nice little floater from the lane but he seldom gets to the rim.

Perhaps he wasn't used correctly in ATL and would fit better with the Suns but I wouldn't count on that.

I'm not too thrilled about him.

I saw Pargo is going to be a FA, maybe the Suns should look at getting him? He seemed to do OK in the playoffs.

Marcus Banks > Lue

Which Marguc bands? Do you mean the 2006-07 Banks who shot 17.2% for three or the Banks who shot 40.4% for the Suns before the trade? Or do you mean the guy whose shooting with the Celtics was 03-04 for 40% and 31.4% for three, 04-05 40.2% and 35.6% for three, or 05-06 where he shot 41.3% and 31.6% for three?

My read on Lue is that he's too small to defender some guys and he's too much of an Eddie House type PG for many tastes. But if shooting doesn't matter, the Suns should stick with Strawberry and be done with it.

As a PG, what interests me about Lue is that he doesn't turn the ball over. In any case, I'm not impressed with Duhon and Anthony Johnson. either.

It's easy to keep your turnover count down when you rarely bring up the ball and all you do is dribble in the same spot before taking a shot i.e. a bit of a ball hog.

I think Pargo is more of a SG in a PG's body. We already have one of those and he's much better than Pargo.

Now that I don't have to root for the Hawks to lose, I can say that I completely agree with everything you typed, except for the part where you doubted your own opinion...

I think I agree on this. Throw Strawberry into the fire and keep him there. It's not like he has to do it all on his own, he can get help from Diaw, Hill and Barbosa while he's out there.

Strawberry has equal or better size, speed and not least defense than the other mentioned. So it's down to shooting and experience and he can learn on the job IMO.

If it really doesn't work out we can maybe do some stuff at the trade deadline? I don't know... It's just an idea... I want to play the most talented players now rather than giving away valuable playing time to role players.

The newspapers keep mentioning Lue first and the Suns did try to sign him a few months ago. A lot of this is based on the assumpiton that Duhon will get more money than the Suns can afford.

The conflict over getting what you want and what you can afford is as old as mankind. At vet minimum, the problem is basically one of confronting trade-offs. PG's don't fall into the low rent district if they are really good at everything. . We may be left with whatever is left.

In any case, this will be a summer long waiting game as every player will tryt ot find somebody willing to pay more then Vet Min.
