We traded up from 15 to 10 for Rosen and now there's a chance we trade Rosen or not and draft Murray at #1 this year. My question is, would you guys have been happy if we stayed put at 15 and took Lamar Jackson or even traded back and still got him(Baltimore traded back into the first round at 32 and got Jackson)? I know hindsight is what it is but some here wanted Jackson and he is a similar style QB as Murray and Jackson did have a decent year, not great but decent. But would we be having this Murray conversation had we taken Jackson and the year still went into the toilet? There is no right or wrong answer here, just food for discussion.

Yes, because this was promoted by Kliff’s OU comments.

It’s beyond disrespectful to lump Jackson in with Murray. That’s all that really needs to be said, imo.

???

I think the question is good, Jackson was the other top QB available, if we didn't give up the 3 and 5 to move up and the team played as poorly as it did with Rosen (I think that is a safe assumption). Would we be reacting the same and wanting Murray?

I got flamed soooo hard on here for immediately flipping out about that pick lol.

But he was a walk-on at Temple who hurt his leg in his senior year in High School. I knew some buffoon would fall for the hype, but never imagined it would be the Cardinals. Maybe the worst pick in Cardinals history in the fact that Reddick had a zero percent chance of ever being good. Wendell Bryant was derailed by drugs and others by injuries. Levi Brown had a good two years and helped get the Cards to a Super Bowl. But the Reddick pick was an obvious disaster from day one

I think based on his true abilities as a dual threat the comparison isn't fair.. if Jackson came out of college throwing the way Murray could I think he would have been a top 5 pick last year. Imo

Yeah, that I get, I was ignoring NJs dual threat comparison subconsciously :)

I do like the remaining question - if we didn't trade up and just took Jackson last year, would there still be this intense Murray conversation?

Good question.. whether some like it or not, the KK/Murray relationship would probably make it one. Hypothetical of course.. but just my opinion. But if Jackson went and played lights out.. who knows!?

You don’t know a lot about cardinals history if that’s what you think.

The biggest question about Murray is if he's really that good. He only had one season as a starter. Yes he put up insane numbers but there are tons of college QB's who put up insane numbers in college who flopped horribly in the NFL. David Klingler for one. Vince Young another. Jackson started pretty much 3 years at Louisville and his numbers are pretty consistent. We shall see but I don't think we would have been upset had we taken Jackson last year. However, we did trade up and draft Rosen and there are many here who can't wait to get rid of him.

Don’t forget about the possibility of Jackson ending up like Vince Young too. Vince Young’s rookie season was better than LJ’s

The Ravens did a good job masking LJ’s deficiencies last year. However, the Chargers in the playoffs might’ve provided a good blueprint for limiting Jackson’s effectiveness.

I believe he is referring to Jackson scoring low on the wonderlic.

I knew what he was saying and I was being PC and not telling him what I think of that insinuation. Its cool.Jackson is a quiet reserved young man who is very respectful and was raised that way by his mother. One test is not the end-all or a true measure. After watching Jackson for 3 years at Louisville and seeing how well mannered and respectfully he treated fans and media the assumption that LJ is dumb is ignorant.Soft-spoken and quiet fits him more than being less intelligent.
