Great signing, especially for pass pro. It makes me feel much better having some vets in there protecting Palmer now. He will be very clean this season.

My only concern is the cap. Another 3M against a pretty much filled up cap and Cards need a CB2. How do incentive based contracts affect the cap? Does 3M hit the cap or 1M?

I imagine they plan on restructuring campbell which will free up quite a bit.

I was hoping we would bring him back. If there were ever a Super Bowl run before a season started this is it. Now even if either Johnson were to miss a game or two we've got it covered. I would love to see both in the backfield at the same time for about ten plays a game just to worry a defense to death.

This is great news! There are so few pieces needed. We really have an opportunity draft great pieces with BPA. I also think we have a great opportunity to get guys to be reasonable with extensions/restructures because they see how special this run can be. That's two players willing to take half what the market offered to stay in AZ. I guess we will see if Dansby really wants a ring.

#AZCardinals RB Chris Johnson received a 1-year deal worth up to $3M, source said. He turned down nearly double that from another team.

First Gresham now CJ taking way less money for a much better chance at a ring. Hopefully Dansby can follow suit.

How great is it to be a Cardinals fan right now?

Aside from a two year run of moderate competency under Kurt Warner, this team was a 5-11 wasteland for 20 years. Now, in the MB/SK/BA era, right from the outset, we are 10-6, 11-5, 13-3, and players are turning down twice the money to play for Arizona. This is what we always dreamed of.

Good. They were crazy if they let him walk. Even if he is a backup, I still think he will have a great year. 3 headed monster! I still believe AE will make his mark to.
Totally agree. Would have been nervous going into the season with just David Johnson and Ellington. CJ adds much needed depth to the position.

Had to read that a couple of times just to let it sink in. Over 40yrs I've been a fan and for this to finally happen, become an elite franchise just about brings tears to my eyes.

Maybe just a little bit, honestly though it made the statement more impactful because you don't throw out praise without merit or drink koolaid.

You sir are not a homer, just an avid fan.

What I can't fathom, is why did Bill Bidwill not do this? Why didn't he try to put together a winning team? Was he just that cheap of an owner and didn't care if they went 5-11 for 20+ years? I just don't get it. He always had the right personal, just never did anything about it...

This transformation didntnhappenintil the new stadium was built.. That and the younger Bidwill taking over is what it took... Unfortunately the old man never had these resources or the attractive facilities to help like Michael does.. Sure he was cheap but he was handcuffed as well IMO

True, but still, 20 years of nothing and then finally after a stadium was built the team gets better? He only made the playoff 5 times in his 54 years of owning the team. He also had the lowest payroll in the league for years. Bill seemed to just want to save money and not spend it to make a profit.

The truth definitely lies somewhere in the middle...

The Bidwills always very clearly stated that they needed a new updated stadium with the luxury boxes to compete with other owners in the NFL. They promised that if they ever got that they would spend the money necessary and be able to compete with the big boys. I think it's safe to say that he was right and lived up to his promise the stadium was built and look at them now???

When your average attendance is a third or less more than other teams you're not getting all revenues from parking and concessions etc. etc. etc. and don't have any luxury box revenues you're going to hurt... He's lived up to his end of the bargain and appears he was right all along.

It could go both ways. If they had a winning team, SDS would have been full each game. You got to spend money to make money. Either way, glad they are a great organization now.

You cant spend money you don't have. Thats called bankrupt... You cant just ignore this "you're not getting all revenues from parking and concessions etc. etc. etc. and don't have any luxury boxes"
