Yeah, I know. My point was that it's hypocritical to poke fun at Arizona's situation without looking in the mirror. Things aren't exactly rosy in Tempe. You guys are coming off a 5-7 football season and a 4th place/Round of 32 finish with the most talented team ASU Basketball has had since the early 80's. Arizona fans aren't the only one needing a slice of humble pie in the words of Chris.

You think I've ever refrained from ripping Arizona? I've been an outspoken critic of Stoops and Livengood for years and I'm easily the most outspoken critic of this Tim Floyd debacle on ASFN.

I'm pretty sure this was solely because of one of the single WORST QBs to start for ASU... Thankfully he is gone...

Though If Danny Sullivan is our opening day starter in 2009 I am going to throw up..

And again.. spin it any way you want, the bottom line is Tim Floyd is a poor hire (you knew this) and I was not alone in believing the entire time that ultimately you guys would end up with a mediocure coach (I knew this...)

I will look forward to the time when you concede those facts... please do so on the public board, and not in a PM.. Thank you.:)

How about on this very thread smart guy? I realize Arizona State isn't exactly some bastion of academic excellence but you really should think before you write.

I never said Floyd was a good let alone acceptable hire

Every Arizona fan including myself hates the Floyd hiring

Again the facts are Livengood failed to acquire the money to BUY a coach.

The Kentucky job opening up was the worst thing that could have possibly happened to this coaching search and I dont care what anyone says Livengood did not exactly factor that into his plans for the coaching search.

Floyd isnt a good hire based upon who has been interested in this job all season long and how interested those parties were. However, Floyd is a very highly regarded basketball coach and that is a fact. Hell, you dont get hired to coach an NBA team twice unless you know your ****.

He can recruit, he can coach, but at the same time this was a FAIL for the UA. Having to settle for Floyd proves that and JL really has destroyed nearly every major sport at the UA.

And I'd also like to add Floyd hasn't signed yet so these arguments may become moot.

Floyd to Memphis, Dixon to USC, Miller to Pitt, Lord freaking knows to Arizona. At least that would get Livengood fired.

Although, ideally I would like something along the lines of:

I was wrong, when I thought we would hire an elite coach and MAYBE have to settle for Capel or Gilespe.. and YOU were dead on when you kept saying the whole time that we (the UofA) would end up disappointed and with a relatively mediocre coach...

Feel free to "Quote" this and say I agree :D

Lets just skip the 6 year waiting period and hire Pastner.

At this point I would be on board...

That's incorrect, my gut said Capel for a long time. And yes, I'll agree that you were right when you said we would make a disappointing hire but won't say Floyd is a mediocre coach because he's clearly not.

Floyd is apparently having a press conference in LA where I'm assuming he'll announce he's staying. So not only did Jim Livengood get the guy he wanted into McKale Center and fail to close him but he also is now allowing Tim Floyd to have the national spotlight to announce that USC is a better program than Arizona. Dude got played like a freaking tune...again.

Looks like we may "win the press conference" after all this week with Sunny Jim's resignation. Look for it shortly prior to an angry mob storming Livengood's house and the public tarring and feathering.

I cant help but laugh at all this... This reminds me of Horne fouling twice at the end of a game only to lose those games for UA.

This is so pathetic I have to laugh at my own program.

What an embarassment. Shelton is at fault for letting Livengood run this search.

That certainly makes it sound like Floyd is out, which I think is good for UA. Sean Miller should've been ahead of Floyd on their list, he's younger, not a sleezeball and has a lot more potential in my estimation.
Miller ain't coming. One of the job requirements at Arizona is beating ASU and Miller won't be comfortable in that role with Herb in Tempe. I'm guessing Pastner when all is said and done, Livengood is a goner here shortly though.

This is getting strangely comical.

At this point my suggestion is turning McKale Center and Arizona Stadium into classrooms and donating all the sports money to elite professors and research programs. At least then we could have something to be proud of and our resumes would look 100x better.

Seriously, just hire Pastner and a very good staff and let it ride.

It really cant get much worse than it already has.

I think the only game he can wrap his mind around is Go Fish.

Just hire Pastner and get this debacle over with. The longer it goes the dumber we look and we might get some solid pub after the fact because he's an alum and everybody around college basketball likes him.

At this point it makes sense...there will be a couple lean years no matter what, but he can work off his training wheels at that point, and at least seem like a tie to the tradition of the program.

He'll get players to come here, recruiting is about connections and he has just as many as anybody in the sport. He's also beloved by almost every former player too so keeping those guys involved in the program would be very beneficial as we're going to need the money. Whether he can coach and motivate said players is the issue. People around the program say he's "too nice."

The ironic thing is that had Pastner stayed on board last summer we would've also had Brandon Jennings, Emmanuel Negedu, and Jeff Withey as a supporting cast to the Big Three and likely kept the 2009 class. Josh would've been the HC this year too and gotten some OTJ training as well.
