At this point I think anyone thinking Dixon wants to move west, or at least to the Pac-10, should retire that rumor. He's received the hard press from ASU and (presumably) UA. ASU had big money (for ASU) on the table. He must like Pittsburgh a lot. I don't blame him because he was handed a healthy program and didn't have to reinvent the recruiting process. *shrug*
The Dixon moving back West thing is a figment of somebody's imagination that the media got a hold of and ran with. I'm not sure why the media and fans seem to think that every coach wants to "come back home" but they do. Dixon never wanted it and as of now he never will. If his or his wife's parents get sick in ten years and they want to be closer maybe, but right now Dixon is not an option nor has been for months.

Capel, Few.

Those guys are good coaches, but they're not program saviors like Saban is. If I were a UA fan I'd breathe a sigh of relief over either of those hires, but I'm not whipping out the checking book and signing over my retirement fund for either of them. Saban's a king. Capel and Few are princes.

If we offered Few 4 mil a year I would throw a fit. 4 mil a year and we could have had very serious talks with Pitino and Calipari despite what has already happened.

I have a gut feeling that Calipari knew that Gillespie might be on the way out. Arizona could have called him the day after he lost to Mizzou but I think he would have waited to see what Kentucky did. Hard to imagine Livengood couldn't offer $4M first as I am sure boosters would have kicked in the extra $500k.

Granted. But given the choice between staying on budget and getting Lon Kruger and going outside my means and getting Capel or Few the answer is pretty simple if your goal is winning basketball games.

Here is how the typical conversation between Mike and Robert/Steve Kerr would go:

Mike: We are going with a break-neck pace, and worry about D later

Robert: TO HELL YOU WILL... I write your checks, you do what I say.. I OWN you..

Steve: you ruined OUR team, I will be dammed if you ruin OUR college! It starts and ends with Defense, how many times do I have to prove this..

Mike: does anyone have a gun? NO seriously.. anyone, this CAN NOT be happening... where's MY steve..

This would be followed by Mike "tricking" Horne into fouling someone every time they had a lead with under 10 seconds remaining, to ensure they lost, and then flipping Robert and Steve off as he walks off the court with more satisfaction that one could imagine...

PLEASE let this happened!

PLEASE PLEASE let this somehow happend!

You may be right but we will never know because the USC job didn't become available.

You don't know this. You are spinning it.
Sure, Skkorp. Whatever you say.

Arizona had talks with both Few and Capel and their offers were not enough to get them into serious talks. Of course no official "offer" was ever made but that almost never happens in these kinds of things until the guy has agreed in principle.
