Oh Canada!
Okay folks I picked up my copy yesterday and heres the update to the end of week
2.
We went 2-2 in the preseason.
Then In the opener against the Lions we took and ealry 7-0 lead on a pick for a Td by Hill. Our offence then sputtered and the Lions scored 21 straight points. With E.Smith being unable to get anything going I replace him With Holy Shipp! and he gained 60yards in the second half. And when trailing 24-14 Mr. hill picked off Joey again and scored again and we took over the MO!!! We then went on to pick joey 2 more times and the "O" converted them for Tds the final score was 42 -24 Cards!!! In week 2 I started Shipp and he responded by gaining 120 yards in the ground in a 31-21 victory over seattle! Boldin also pulled in 2 TD passes. Our d has come up with 7 picks in 2 games! Hill was named NFL Defensive player of the week in week 1! That's it for now!

If you lost that nig on "rookie", no way you should try "pro"! :D

I'm playing Pro! The dbacks and Lbs are making plays! I should also say that LB Thompson had 3 sacks against the Seahawks! Oh Yeah ! I forgot to mention that Hasselback and Dilfer were both injured and the 3rd string Kelly played against me!I haven't checked the Fa and Rooks yet! But I have lots of fan support.
And so far we only stand to lose 6 mill this year!Mine's for gamecube.

The coolest thing that I've discovered is the "Training Camp" mode in "Franchise". If you had Madden 2003, you might have played in "Training Camp," but it wasn't very cool except for getting some training in how to play.

In 2004, you can use "Training Camp" to boost the ratings of individual players!! For example, when you run the "Pocket Passer" drill, you choose a QB you want to work out (I chose McCown, because I wanted to boost his rating), and then you run the drill. If you get a trophy, you can either choose to stop then and take the point and add it to his rating, or "wager" that point at the next level (Pro), in the hopes that you can boost his rating even more! You can only do each drill once with only one player, so if you screw up, that's it.

Way, way cool. I was so jacked. I have to read the manual better to see if it's better to do it with vets (whose ratings don't improve after Preseason) or rooks/second-year players who will start (I did "chase and tackle" with Levar Fisher, because he was the lowest-rated young LB who'll play).

Finally, for whatever reason, Tony Gilbert's name isn't listed in the game. Make sure you fix it before you start your franchise. Also, Josh Scobey isn't in the game.

EDIT: Oh, yeah. Kendall is still listed as an RG and Spikes is rated something like a 65 behind him. He's the weak link on the offensive line (in the game). Also, Johnson and Boldin are listed as the best WRs in the game, with ratings in the mid- to low-80s. Foster is like a 65, and the 5th-best WR on the roster. If you just go in to "play now," the starting WRs are Gilmore and McAddley, with Kasper in the slot.

My Big Red friends,
I have ps2 version of Madden 2004. Im finding my best sucess is on the ground running it with Emmitt and Shipp. Passing is another story. I can get TE F.Jones open on short routes and (with time) can find Kasper (slot) for the deep FL Drag. Other then that im having a hard time passing the ball around. I can hit Emmitt and Shipp out of the backfield for short gains but I cant seem to do much with the outside WRs (Boldin/ Johnson). Any plays that have been working real well for you guys I would truly appreciate if you could post them here. My buddies at work are having our yearly Madden Tournament next Sun (8/24) and we have to play with our favorite teams so im stuck with this offense.-haha
Plus what formations are you guys finding that works real well on defense with the Cards personnel???

Thanks!
Tim

I've only played one game, on Pro, versus the Lions, but after pounding the ball for over 4 YPC with Emmitt (is there an easy way to sub in Shipp?), I went to the Playaction out of the base Weak-I set, and hit Bryan Gilmore for a long gain on the side. The PlayAction is really cool, because for a moment the icon changes to the RB, so I sometimes think that I accidentally selected the wrong play.

On the PC version I got yesterday you can sub wr's and rb's by hitting the number 3 button prior to selecting your set. It will sub in the next person on the depth chart. Furthermore, if you pound emmitt, like i did, after a while, Madden will say, something like "I think he needs to get a breather after all this running"...just hit the #3 button prior to selecting say "I-formation" and shipp will break the huddle...

The play-action is real cool and is the 'hot route for blocking schemes' of the blockers. Many times I have changed shipp (3rd down back) from going out into a route to staying in a protecting Blakes blind side when I see a blitz coming,....that is very very cool!

oh and what I found hilarious was I was playing the cowboys in the reg. seaosn and jackson, wilson, and starks all interecepted passes for TD's on the first 3 possesions. I was up 21-0 with only second off the clock!.

Hutchinson ended up throwing 6 ints that game! If you put the right defenses in against teams it really shuts them down. I am partial to the Nickel flats defense myself.

I have found that if you goto 4-3 over and bring thompson from the outside you get good pressure!
