Well, thanks solely to Devin Booker, the string of embarrassing losses are over.

I wouldn't exactly be encouraged, though, by needing a furious rally in the last minute to win at home against a bad team missing two of its three best players in its starting power forward and point guard.

Meanwhile, we can already see the fallout from the stunt against Ayton, which will likely end up costing us our #1 overall pick. I honestly think there is no coming back from this in terms of the Suns' relationship with DeAndre Ayton. It's going to end up being Eric Bledsoe part deux.

Nice to get a win but unfortunately not a happy forum.
Yeah I’m happy we won bc losses just aren’t going to do anything at this point. We aren’t going to bottom out and get lucky in the lottery and this looks to be a poor draft anyway. So tanking is meaningless. But wins like tonight just feel hollow.

Even with good games from Booker and Oubre the Suns do not win without Ayton.

Ayton played well in spurts tonight, but overall, not a great game. I’m surprised his shooting has been as bad as it’s been.

Particularly with management flipping the proverbial bird at our franchise center, and our franchise center flipping the proverbial bird right back...

It hasn't...until tonight...

Monty may have been trying to prove a point but I think not starting Ayton threw off his game... messed with his rhythm.

Not to mention his ego, his sense of fairness and his sense of being supported by the franchise...

And I remain pretty sure that the call was not Monty's. Particularly after talking Ayton up on the radio the very same day and the day before, this is not a Monty type move at all.

And if this was some sort of petty vindictive move in response to letting the team meeting get out to the press, management would have been better off suspending him for a game rather than benching him.

Good to see Booker with two clutch 3's and the Suns defense (Suns finish with an 8-0 run).

This was a team we should not lose to and, at least, we didn't.

But there is obviously unrest on the team.

The soap opera is unfolding. It might be more entertaining than the games.

Ayton had 13 points, 9 rebounds and 3 blocks even with an off shooting night.

Opponents know what's coming. He is a one-dimensional offensive player.

Not quite what you'd expect from your (#1 pick) Center.

That is why fans are saying that we didn't get the Center we'd hoped for.

I’m not sure I would call it a good win, but it was definitely a much needed win.

Only thing I can think of is his ankle
Is still bothering him and he’s not getting enough lift. But for as long as I can remember, his midrange has always been automatic

Yeah it kinda eliminates the strongest argument posters had in terms of his potential, his historic efficiency numbers. Those are gone now.

If by "lift" you mean "effort", I agree. It's pretty darn obvious that Ayton did not give full effort tonight.

Exactly

Last year that 15 footer was money.
Now it’s garbage.

Why did we win tonight and not blow it in the 4th quarter?

Because Rubio, who had less assists than Booker in the 1st
half, wound up doubling him 10-5 for the game.

Booker needs to play Shooting Guard for us to win. At least
against an inferior team.

Gang, I apologize for my nonstop negativity about Ayton. I’ve never been this disappointed by any player and I believe it’s because I never had as high hopes for a young player. Maybe amare, but he was only derailed by injury. His shortcomings would’ve been completely overshadowed by how dominant he was becoming offensively. I’m going to try to do a better job of reining in the volume of Ayton observations.

not really, he shot like 39% from midrange last year.

the difference is he was getting more layups and dunks last year.
