I felt from the start that PM would end up with teh boncos and Elway. In the AFC knows all the teams. Good luck to him,I hope he can stand at the seasons end. IMO we end up younger with a upside QB situation,

Went to the worst possible team just to seek a chance at a Manning super bowl that is never going to happen.

Screw Manning and his family

I heard 5 year $95 million. Yup, money was definitely his priority.

So you thought that bag of doughnuts and the parking space that DD offered him was giong to do it, I guess?

$18-19M per year for the greatest QB of all time, when Brees is asking for $23M is on par with what he should get. Period. The guarantees will be the question, as others have stated, but you gotta take chances if you want to win.

Dallas Clark and Jeff Saturday en route.

I love this move for Denver and hate it for Manning. Manning go ttheir way out of Tebow, but Manning gets an old/overrated roster. I bet Denver goes after a QB in the first 2 rounds, and would not be shocked if they made a move for Tannehill if he drops past Miami.

I'm curious to see how McGahee runs without Tebow holding the backside DE, and with Tolbert signing in Carolina, possibly Williams or Stewart on the way?

One thing for sure, the OL of Denver is going to have to pass protect better now that the defense can just pin their ears back and rush the passer without fear of a run.

I now double hate Denver for screwing us on another qb. They are right on the list behind the Cowboys and Niners. Could not stand Shannahan when he was in Denver.

Agreed! If he's healthy and with the projected rise in the salary cap, Manning will be a bargain if he takes them deep into the post-season.

The worst thing you can do is throw money at an unproven draft choice [see Matt Leinart] or an unproven bench-warmer [see Kevin Kolb]. Taking a calculated risk by investing in a first-ballot HOF QB seems like a much better bet to me (and Denver, SF, Seattle, KC, Washington, Miami, the Jets, Tennessee, the Cardinals and the other 3 teams that inquired initially).

I'm sure that I should be a nice guy & wish PM all the luck in the world. I'm just not wired like that. I always hated Elway (because he snubbed the Colts in the draft), and I always hated the Broncos before & after Elway. I just can't wish Manning well there. I don't want to see him get hurt, but I want the Broncos to lose & PM crushed in the process. I'm happy as hell that he turned down the Niners, but I still can't wish him well in Denver. Elway was always a jerk & no one in the league liked the guy. Not even his teamates liked him!!

The worst thing you can do is throw money at an unproven draft choice [see Matt Leinart]

Actually history has shown that most playoff QB's are first round draft picks who started their rookie years with that team. Looking at the playoff teams last year

Niners - Alex Smith
Giants - Eli Manning
Falcons - Matt Ryan
Lions - Matthew Stafford
Packers - Aaron Rogers
Steelers - Ben Roethlisberger
Bengals - Andy Dalton
Broncos - Tim Tebow (I know, I know but still a 1st round pick)
Ravens - Joe Flacco

That's 9 of 12. Only 1 was signed as a free agent.
The best way to get a good QB is to draft them in the first round. That doesn't mean that every first round QB is going to work and it doesn't mean that you can't draft one who will be good in later rounds.
So throwing money at an unproven draft choice is not the worst thing you can do.

Take out Dalton. Just realized he was a second round pick. Doesn't change the fact that the more successful teams have a QB that they drafted early and kept. Chasing free agents usually won't get you there.

I don't think that's too hard to figure out most teams don't let go of good quarterbacks so obviously most teams are going to have to draft one. The problem with today's NFL is you don't have four years to groom a quarterback. Your whole team can be flipped over by the time they're ready to go. Aaron Rogers sat on the bench for several seasons and Eli Manning and Tim Tebow only played their rookie years due to necessity after the first third of the season. And Alex Smith are you kidding me he took what 4 to 6 years and he still didn't do much IMO he was just along for the ride. I'm not shure about Dalton. My personal belief is you got to get that quarterback in the top five picks and even then it's a 50-50 shot.

I believe a franchise should focus on the offensive line and defensive front 7 and then skill positions. That alone will get you to 500. After that be ready for that quarterback when it just so happens your lucky enough to get a good one. It's my personal belief too many teams don't build a solid team and chase quarterbacks to no prevail and end up with a miserable team year in and year out. Even if they get a good one there so bad in other positions that quarterback can't succeed anyways. I know it's not flashy but you can win a Super Bowl with just a solid all-around team.

Especially a solid running game and defense. Which is where this team is heading, imo.

As far a the QB, GB had it perfect with the Rogers scenario. Draft a good one have him sit for a few years and then let him loose.

We should go after Cousins this year. Let him learn for two years and then see what you've got.

Unfortunately we still don't have that luxury except with a trade possibility, mtl.

The good teams have a good 2-5 year plan down the line. We seem to be more in a 1-2 yr. plan mode as far as QB's go right now.

Don't forget Tom Brady, Kurt Warner, Matt Hasselbeck, Tony Romo, Matt Cassell, Drew Brees (2nd round), etcetera. QB is high risk, high reward. When someone like Peyton *or* Brees is available, they are less risky than a high draft choice IMO. But your point is valid. The majority of top QBs are first-round draft choices.

So Smith ends up in Miami, Hasselebeck retires and the 49ers end up with ... Matt Leinart.

This absolutely makes no sense to me. WHy would you choose the Broncos over the Cardinals...And in all reality why over the 49ers!!??!

Their defense is SO OVERRATED it isn't funny. Their corners are old and slow, the line backing core is average at best. They played some really bad teams last year near the end. Oakland, Kansas City, Miami, San Diego for that matter were all struggling. Look at the good offensive teams they played and then look at the score. Detroit 40+, New England twice 40+ twice, Buffalo(decent) 40+

Cold weather....Plays cold weather teams....his schedule is harder than you think when you factor in weather.

His receivers are decent at best! Remember they LED the league in dropped balls! ANd they threw the ball only 20 times a game!!

The running game was good because you couldn't key on the RB...You never knew if Tebow was going to keep it.

Their comebacks were Jesus like and Fox wore out his welcome in Carolina.

I think it is a horrible move...and will take away from his career.

I am saying it now. The Broncos won't win their division next year. And won't make the playoffs either.

Dumb Move!

I didn't understand Peyton's interest in Denver when I first heard about it, and I still don't understand it now. My guess is that they allowed him the most freedom with personnel and play calling, seeing as Saturday, Clark, Tamme, Addai and even Brandon Stokley are rumored to be on their way to join him. We'll see what happens when Demaryious Thomas suffers yet another knee injury and Peyton is left with Decker, Clark and Stokley as his top three offensive options.

i hope the greater colorado area just gets crushed by an early snowstorm and that the snow just keeps heaping down on denver and the surrounding areas. you know, for the sake of all the ski resorts. i mean, those guys had a down year this year. they need the snow next year. yeah, for the ski resorts . . .

oh, it would be great for all that snow to result in piss in the forehead's cheerios.

Denver plays only one game indoors next year --- at Atlanta.

Guess the "dome factor" was also completely useless speculation.

Now I'm waiting for the Tebow-led Jacksonville Jaguars to knock the Broncos out in the playoffs.
