Usually, big money guys receive more probing if you will. It happens league wide.

Oh I know but when that kind of comment comes from the guy who is making the decisions, and that comment is general in nature, then it is used to label EVERY situation like it no matter how good or "bad" a FA prospect is. That is why it keeps coming up. Right or wrong, it only reinforces the perception of the Cards as being bumblers who cannot get out of their own way.

I am not saying I believe this necessarily but if Graves hadn;t said it, this thread largely wouldn't exist.

He only said that it USUALLY takes between 24 and 48 hours, not that it was an organizational rule.

Tis true. I agree with you. However, that is the tough thing with being quoted. If you are misunderstood and taken literally for every situation, then It can get out of hand! The quote is in the eye of the beholder.

I have absolutely no idea what you mean by this.

"You want to say blah, blah, blah to people - that's fine - cause that's all we've heard from this organization.

My blah, blah, blah comment is in response to a reference to the so called "48 hour rule." It was more of a bit of sarcasm saying "turn the page", or "we have heard that one before." The point is that there is no such thing as a "48 hour rule". Each situation is handled differently.

"Try not to be condescending to your most loyal fans"

I come here for the sole purpose of getting a vibe from the loyal Cardinals fans in order to help reach all of you better. I try to post information here within seconds of getting it myself. There are times when I get a press release sent to me and 20 seconds later, it is on ASFN. I am not interested in getting in arguments. I only step in when some comments are way off base...like the "48 hour rule" and I'll leave it at that.

If you or anyone else ever thinks that I am being condescending, please give me an old fashioned trout slapping. Section 11 can show you how.

Sorry to link you with Tango in the first sentence - i over-stepped there and am mature enough to realize it. As to everything else - you just have a very frustrated fan here who does not believe in the organization at this point and well, when I read what I thought was sarcasm from a team employee it left a bad taste in my mouth - especially considering Graves had been quoted with the 48 hour rule in the past. Will give the trout slap from here on in - and again, like I said in the first ppst, I DO appreciate you coming to the site - of course everyone conveniently dismissed that because we all see the same posters with certain stereotypes and rarely truly read what each other is saying. I know I have a problem with that . . .

I don't think I have said it was a hard fast rule but he did say the 24-48 hours and he did it in a general nature which allows people to attach it to every situation. Robinson leaves town with no word so immediately there is the notion that the Cards are not organized enough to make a move. Sorry, I don't buy the MRI argument because I have had 3 (back) and saw the pics as I walked out of the room. All you need from there is a doc to read them and for the money the Cards pay for their medical people, they had better be expecting them to read the thing within an hour after it is done and give their expert opinion. Hell, I had 2 of mine in the morning and my doc had them read by the afternoon and I had results via phone.

Now, I am willing to admit that every situation IS different but that doesn't change what was said and the interpretation of that. It is frustration because we expect things to move faster because we care and because we know it CAN be done faster.

I'm sorry that I was offended by a remark he made to SOMEONELSE'S post. Personally - I felt like he was taking a holier than thou position - Is he immune from questioning because he works for the Cards? I'm sorry, but this is a public message board, and if you're gonna come on here, I don't care if you are the President of the U.S., you better know people might disagree with you and will say so.

The only apology I can see that needs to be given is by you Tango. I thought Skorpp kicked off people who posted pornographic stuff on this site?

Why don't you call me childish again Tango - oh and make sure you do it with your new name for me. CONTRADICTION BOY!

Well Jim, I guess you will have to forever and anon bear the burden of having been linked to me......LOL.
What an absolutely unspeakable sin. And well he should apologize for such degrading references.

gotta agree with the above - the whole MRI thing is a load - my father is an orthopedic surgeon as is my best friend in Chicago - and speaking from experience - if you need the results, you can get them faster than the next day - hell even my grandmother went in for an MRI just last week and even she got her results from the doctor within 3 hours - that's my grandmother at a public hospital without any kind of financial reward hanging in the balance.

Thanks for the words.

I only step in and inteject opinion when I feel that a comment or idea is way off from the truth. Even though Rod mentioned something about a 48 hour period, I think that it is absurd to believe that it is the case in every situation. There are so many factors that go into a Free Agent evaluation...many of which I outlined in an earlier post on this thread. It is sick! Sometimes it takes hours, sometimes it takes days. I think Rod was referring to a general time frame and that time frame is 24-48 hours. However, when you are on live radio, sometimes thoughts are not conveyed as clearly as they could have been.

Yeah, I agree that the imaging could be available quickly, but is the right Doctor available to read it? With the million dollar investments that go in to NFL players, teams do not rely on just any Doctor. They want their own Doctors making the call. They want to be able to trust the opinion as opposed to letting a doctor with no affiliation read and recommend. If your Doctor is not available because he is in surgery all day, you wait until he is done. It is high stakes baby!

It is very frustrating. And frankly, so often with this organization it seems that they are not adequately prepared. THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO RUN A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS. It just is not.

Boston should have been tagged, Colvin should not have been allowed to leave town and Robinson should likewise should not have been allowed to leave. If Robinson is healthy enough to be offered a contract he's healthy enough to be offered a contract that will ensure his signature on the dotted line - period.

No offense intended Jim . . . but,

The Cards knew MR was coming in about a week ahead of time (or at least several days) and thus they had plenty of time to get their doctors in and ready to do nothing but jump on the physical. And if the doctors are too busy then get new doctors. I'm sure this professional football team is paying these guys handsomely. Now, if the Doc is scheduled for surgery on the day in question there are a litany of solutions available to all parties. Move the physical up a day or back a day. And if Mac and Graves are too busy preparing for the draft and this is the only time that they can meet with Robinson, well, . . .

I could go on and on, but won't. The Cards should have signed him.

What if there are some questions with the MRI, and the Cards want some second opinions? It is not a gurantee that everything turned up peachy.

I didn't really hear anything from KC until after they signed Holliday. I only heard a few tidbits from a few newspapers, but not much from the Chiefs themselves when they first brought in Holliday. Not all teams have press conferences for every player they bring in. They might be playing a little poker with other teams, and with the player himself to get the best possible deal.

Nothing wrong with a second opinion (although I find it hard to believe the Cards wouldn;t trust their own medical staff like that) and in that case it could take extra time however, we are talking about the initial MRI and reading of said MRI.

Jim makes a good point about docs being available to read the MRI and I think red desert makes an equally good point about there being plenty of advanced notice for Robinsons...or most other visits. Unless it is aa life saving deal, docs can massage their schedules to get it done (especially for an NFL team who is probably paying some nice fat Mercedes buying retainer or something). These are bone and muscle docs and it isn't too often they are performing life saving surgery. But again, Jim makes a good point and an athlete's health issue, no matter how much he makes shouldn't interfere with medical attention I may be receiving.

Like I said...it is frustrating. We saw Jeff kind of lash out and it was just frustration showing. Kind of like this thread.

What makes you think he proved to the Cards that he is worth signing?

I could go on and on, but won't. The Cards should have signed him.

I ask this again. What makes you think that he convinced the Cards that he is worth signing.

As far as the doctors go, they make far more money in their own practice than they do being affiliated with an NFL team. If anything, it would most likely slow their own practices down.

They would not be hurting if a team dropped them.

A neighbor of mine used to be a doctor with the Colts. He said that he did it for fun.
