Marion admitted that, "I have been a little passive." He said he's tried to be more diligent about driving to the hole, "But I'm not getting any calls. I have to stay aggressive, and sooner or later it will turn around, and I'll get calls and more free throws."

I don't believe for a second that the Suns would be winning all of these games if the officiating was better. However I have seen what Shawn Marion is complaining about. He gets fouled A LOT going to the basket without getting the foul calls. I think it must have something to do with his awkward style. I actually think Shawn Marion, JJ, and Amare Stoudemire need to do a better job of forcing the contract and exaggerating it. We don't like it, but let's face it. A big part of getting calls in the NBA is acting.

Shawn has to start getting into the officials face and work them.

Ever noticed that all those floppers, whiners and trash talkers get most of the calls?

Marion is too nice.

Shawn played for Danny Ainge. I'm surprised he did not learn from the greatest floppers and whinners of all time. :D

Marion frustrated with officials?

I'm frustrated with Marion.

2 years ago, Marion and Peja Stojakovic were often compared as to who was more valuable.

That question is easily answerable...

Jake is one of the biggest whiners in the league, and he gets absolutely no respect from the refs.

We differ on this one.

Time running down, your team needs a big bucket. Who's number do you call?

That's because Little Jake is constantly setting moving picks (as much always with the guards who don't wait for him to set). He also uses the "stick 'em up" style of defense. That's where he sticks both of his hands straight up in the air like somebody is pointing a gun at him. Referees do not like that.

Peja doesn't exactly have a reputation for his clutch play....

Marion was among the clutch statistic leaders last season and among the top 4th quarter scorers...

Marion is ranked 8th on this ESPN fantasy list. I'm not saying this is the best way to rate a players value but look at the other players on this list.

Against the Blazers he looked like the old Shawn. He is so much better when he gets into the lane and shoots that floater and goes for offensive rebounds.

I agree.

I cringe when he's hanging around the 3 pt line.

They got into their offense quicker tonight and moved the ball around. It opened lanes for Shawn and JJ, which paid off.

One thing I don't miss is Marbury dribbling around the perimeter for 15 seconds.

Barbosa pushes the ball very well.

I don't however feel that AMARE SHOULD BE LEADING SO MANY BREAKS.

The Suns really need to work a lot on running the break, spacing, passing to move the ball, etc. Practicing it would help them to become better at defending it as well.

Amen to that

It would be great as long as it started with a PASS instead of a dribble.

Isn't that a consequence of small ball? As the season progresses, the teams who use muscle get away with alot more than those who don't.

It's been that way for a long time. Two stats are pretty consistent. If the box score shows you being out-rebounded, it will probably show you going to the line less often, too.

I think you are right. But the other part is that guys who try to avoid contact do not get the calls that guys like Magette get who seem to prefer it. Once the defender is on the move, it is necessary to plow into him to make it obvious that a foul is being made -- as long as the shot is hit anyway.
