Yankton opened the scoring less than six minutes into the game to take an early lead, but Brody Huls tied matters up less than 90 seconds later. But the Bucks found the back of the net only 11 seconds later and added two more scores before the end of the first period to go up 4-1.

Both teams would score twice in the second period. Huls found the back of the net again with Drake Grenier scoring as well, but the Marlins still trailed by two goals with only one period to go.

The Bucks added on to their lead with a goal less than three minutes into the third period, but Huls would complete his hat trick with just over six minutes to go to make it 6-4. However, Yankton found the back of the net again with two minutes to go, closing Mitchell's season with a defeat and a sixth-place state finish.

The Bucks outshot the Marlins 46-35 on the day and Mitchell goalie Ian Vaughan finished with 39 saves.
