There are only a few players in the league in that plus range in both categories. This is a huge improvement.

Chriss is an athlete in mind and body. He just lacks basketball experience. He is getting it very quickly. Funny thing is that he is making the most improvement on the defensive end. He had been horrible defensively early in the year. But lately he looks like he might have the making of an elite defender--yes even all-defensive team level, at some point.

His athleticism has been on full display lately. I'm curious if it wouldn't be better to mold him into our SF moving forward instead of our PF. He reminds me of Marion, recently, with much better mechanics.

Booker/chriss pick and role could be destructive in the upcoming years.

I think you can pair him with Warren and argue who plays which position. IMO TJ is better off at the 4 against most opponents anyway. Neither one of them have enough of a 3 point game just yet but I'm sure it will come with Chriss and I think we'll see Warren improve there too. If Bender could fill out enough to play the 5, we'd have our starting front court solved.

I really like that idea. TJ is one of my favorite players and I hope he's a part of our future. I noticed a few times early in the season, before his head injury, where he seemed to be playing like a PF rather than SF when he was on the court with Dudley or Tucker. He's our third best scorer now and it seems he's back to the form he was showing at the start of the season, before his mystery head injury.

When it comes to forwards we can get away with playing 2 tweeners or 2 small forwards, especially in todays NBA. It helps that we have 2 legit centers on the court for the entire game. Watson doesn't seem to play that much small ball, especially compared to Hornacek. Both Chriss and Warren are really athletic, quick, and move well without the ball. Both are capable of hitting the corner 3 at a good rate also.

Chriss has really impressed me a lot these past few weeks. It's usually around this time that rookies hit the wall but Chriss seems to have found another level instead. His first month as our starting PF was ugly to watch. I wanted to see Bender start in his place but it seems that Watson made the right move then because it appears to have paid off. Since the All Star break Marquese has been playing like a real NBA player rather than one of the worst starters in the league.

I figured he'd make 1 of the teams because this was really a weak rookie class. I'm kind of glad he made the 2nd team instead of the 1st, hopefully he uses the 1st team snub to motivate and push himself to show more next year.

The kid is going to be special. I really don't think people understand what we have in Chriss. He didn't even start playing basketball till high school to be where he is is amazing.

I'm looking forward in the coming year or two, to having Chriss and Jackson develop in to something of the second coming of Stoudemire and Marion. Paired up with Booker, could be like having the gang all back together again if you can find a crafty distributor/shooter at the point.

Hes not shawn marion, Chriss is a terrible rebounder.

I like him, he was worth the 8th pick in a weak draft. To me his ceiling is 20ppg, 7 rebounds and above average defense which is great. I just dont see any real allstar potential there. He just doesnt have the fluidity and coordination to really be great offensively in my opinion. Hes more of an off ball scorer which is similar to shawn marion.

I could be wrong but if the Suns future plans are for him to be an offensive cornerstone i think its a flawed plan.

I think he was comparing Chriss to Stoudamire and Jackson to Marion.

The Amare/Chriss comparison.

Both athletic.

Both considered dunkers (although Amare seemed more prolific at it)

Both not great rebounders.

Defense? Ahh... I don't remember Amare being a great defender...maybe just adequate? Chriss seems more inclined to defend but I dunno.

Shooting. Chriss obviously better out of the gate then Amare in the shooting department. Stoudamire worked on his shot though and got much better over time.

Joel Embiid made the first team - a rookie from 2 years ago :)

And only one F made the first team.
I'm really not a fan of the rule that allows players who miss their real rookie season to injury to get a redo a year or even 2 years later. IMO it should only count as your rookie season if you were drafted that year, or if it is your first year actually on an NBA team (draft and stash for instance). Players like Embid and Blake Griffin miss their entire rookie season, but spend the entire year with the team learning the NBA game and then come out well ahead of the curve than all the other rookies.

I'm skeptical of these charts. It indicates Booker added the least offensive points of anyone. Essentially, our worst player based on this chart. Yet, he is the face of our franchise and by far our most valuable asset. How can that be?

Chriss said he's put on close to 20 pounds, now weighing around 250 and Bender is said to be up to about 240. Both have hit the weight room and bulked up. THat's a good thing for both as they were slim for their size. Bender needed to add more weight moreso than Chriss but if he's going to be our "Point Forward" perhaps he won't need that much more bulk. I always thought he'd be a Center longterm.
