well, Nash can't hit that shot EVERY TIME right? Oh well. This team's still got some work to do, but I'm not pissed about tonight.

Nash had a good look, thats all I can ask for.

I put this game pretty squarely on Amare's nightmare of a first half. He was horrible on both ends of the court, and with the team being so shallow up front, they just cant afford that. He's supposed to be a 1st team All NBA guy and he's averaging like 20 points and 8 boards a night, thats just not enough if the Suns are going to be title contenders.

encouraged about amare, but I am sure Phil Webber and DAN DAN TONY are in Mikes ear about Boris being skilled.

I know I'm going to sound like a sore loser, but I just can't see the Suns losing to the Mavs in a 7 game series. At the end of the game the Suns were getting all of their points inside and the Mavs were slowly giving up the lead because they were relying on jumpshots.

Nice effort in the second half of the 4th for the Suns though. I swear these games with the Mavs are scripted. The Suns always lose the first couple against the Mavs and then win the next couple.

We didn't play well enough to win this game. Amazing we even had a chance to tie at the end. The defensive effort in the last few minutes should have been there from the beginning.

Amare has never been a rebounder, he isn't. Scoring wise they don't really go to him, I think we saw what offense he thrives in and it's isn't the pansy ass kick out crap we see game in and game out.

Take away that dreadful first quarter and we win this. Did all the right things at the end and Nash just missed a good look. Give him that shot 10 times in that exact situation and he makes 6 of them.

In particular I was very happy with the defensive effort; well, except the rebounding of course. Guys were showing a lot of intensity and got quite a few steals on hustle and anticipation. Even Stat played well on defense contesting shots without fouling too much. Step in the right direction for sure

Totally agree, in a 7 game series I think the Suns would fare well against Dallas.

The Suns almost stole one tonight. They outplayed Dallas for three quarters, but they played so poorly in the first where it was too much to overcome.

It happens, and usually you should be happy to split the two road games in Texas on this trip.

Im not asking him to be Moses Malone, but last year he averaged right around 10 rebounds a game, thats what they need out of him. Plus, he's young, he ought to still be improving, knee injuries or not. Rebounding is more of a positioning thing that an athleticism thing anyway, if he put his mind to it, there's no reason he couldnt get 10+ boards a game. I probably sound nit picky compaining about 8 boards versus 10, but night in and night out, that makes a big difference.

His man defense is the thing Im most annoyed with, if I was him, I'd be embarrassed about being dominated by Dampier in the 1st QTR, but I bet if you ask Amare, he doesn't even know it happened, or would act like it didn't.

true he has bad mechanics inside, and gets pushed out of position with ease. I doubt this staff of midegets does anything to help him improve. Really the HC is decent but this staff has to be one of the worst in baseketball.
Does Phil Webber really instill any confidence in anyone? What about DAN DAN Tony? What doe she do? other than write letters to Leandro? Let's face these guys are weak.

In response to an earlier comment I kind of like that they save the Nash/Stat pick&roll for the end of games. I've noticed this the last couple games I've seen and it seems to work well. By not overusing it throughout the game it doesn't let the defense figure it out.

the pick and roll isn't a secret though, you either run it well or not. If you run it well you can run it all game long and dominate teams.

Great game tonight, minus the first quarter. I felt the Mavs got a lot of benefitial calls their way throughout the game, though we got more calls down the stretch. If we actually played defense the way we're capable of doing in that first quarter, we win this game. Unfortunately we came out soft and satisfied with our Spurs win, and that proved to be the biggest difference in the game. D'Antoni also made a huge mistake a few minutes into the 4th by taking Hill out and not inserting Nash. For our offense to work, one of either needs to be on the floor at all times. Obviously it's run smoother when Nash is the primary ballhandler, but Hill is our second best point guard, and can initiate the offense adequately enough in stretches.

Despite the loss, I felt good about the team's effort through quarters 2-4, but that first quarter was atrocious. Still, going 1-1 against the two best teams in the West is better than 0-2, and I actually feel upbeat about this loss.... or maybe that's just the absinthe running through my veins. :D

Very tough loss. This was close at the end. I mean, we were losing badly most of the game, so the fact that we made it a very close game at the end is some sort of a victory. But the bottom line is, way too many turnovers and not enough rebounding.

On a side note, Marion was awesome tonight on defense. So were others. I'd say this was one of the most active defensive games the Suns have had in a while.

I never complain about officiating but it was terrible tonight. Eddie F. Rush should not have a job. Still amazes me that he wasn't on the take with Donaghy - his calls are/were equally as bad.

This game would have been just fine if Amare decided to show up for the freaking FIRST HALF

Diaw needs to be moved post haste

Amare is off my christmas card list until he decided to play with some ******* heart

Raja didnt shoot nearly as much as he should have and then ends a poor performance with another ankle injury

skinner didnt play nearly enough and our rebounding shows it. skinner can box out dampier no problem, instead he gets 5 offensive rebounds.

How did we lose by only 3?
