Has there ever been one of these who has started in year one, let alone have any success? All of our QBs have a bright future so bright future doesnt come into play.

So is Stephen Williams and it looks like he'll not only make the team, he'll be a factor at a position we've been pretty good at.

Hall is too small and that's why NFL scouts were down on him, so far he's looking like a kid who doesn't care that he's too small, he's as tall as Brees is.

Not saying he'll be Brees part 2, but he went undrafted because of his size, not talent.

udrfa is different at WR, RB, whatever, QB is not a position that you should be undrafted and somehow become a starter as a rookie.

I don't think anyone wants him to start right away, just that if we get rid of Matt I will expect at some point in the season to see Hall start a game because I think Whiz will eventually decide Anderson isn't the guy either.

I see Hall as a solid backup type who can start a game now and then and not hurt you, if he is better than that it will be gravy.

I initially didn't like Hall (though he looked really good in camp). The first game I thought he was skittish, got out of the pocket too quickly and released oddly.

However, in the Chi game he threw three marvelous passes, stayed in the pocket and was composed, and didn't release as low (probably because he wasn't moving outside the pocket.

I put up a thread earlier on what the deal with Hall was too, but I see it now. I like it.

the vs discussion doesnt count, anyone can come on and become a WR, RB, all you have to do is take the ball and run with it. QB is FARRRRR more complex. Sure the kid could be good some day I just feel he is getting way too much praise.

The thing about Hall is people tend to overrate arm strength and underrate accuracy when looking at QBs, and Hall is undeniably very accurate. IIRC he completed almost 70 percent of his passes at BYU and they threw down the field a bit. I think he's the kind of QB who can keep an offense on the field in spite of facing a 3rd-and-long or two. To me, that's the ideal QB short of having an elite guy.

BTW, the biggest knock on Hall was his height, but he's the exact same size as Drew Brees give or two two or three pounds. I'm not saying Hall is Brees. Just pointing out his height shouldn't be an obstacle to being successful in this league. He has a decent high point release. The only time I'd worry about him finding a passing lane is on 3-step drops, but he seems to have a really good rhythm and vision there.

Yeah that. I wasn't a believer till I saw him for the first time in the Preseason. I had only read about how much the coaches love this kid.

What impressed me the most was his quick compact throwing motion and feel for the pocket. In the NFL you need a QB that can get the ball out of their hands quickly and accurately. Max has showed that ability so far. Plus the kid is very mature and seems to have a good command of the huddle. He plays like he has been in the league 2 years already.

Of all the QBs we currently have on the roster, Max Hall is the one who has impressed me the most. I really expected nothing from him and thought he would be just a camp arm. Boy did he prove me wrong.

I agree with this 100% He is a gamer. I dont know how good he will be but he is light years ahead of your typical rookie.

He threw some in the Bears game with some real zip.....not the throw it so hard that it sticks in their crossbars when they miss it DA style zip....but catchable zip.

Looks a lot like a young Drew Breez...!!!

I think Jim Hart was an undrafted, free-agent QB out of a small college. Southern Ilinois, I think. I'm assuming that's considered small. Anyway, many old-time Cardinal fans know the name Jim Hart. In fact, I think he's still our All-Time passing yards leader. I think Hall is going to have an impact around the middle of this season and supplant whoever starts the year. GO CARDS!

It's true but that was just because he sucked. He had a career QB rating of 66.6 and his TD-INT ratio was 209-247. A turnover machine.

Hey, Earthsci...

I didn't know the #'s were that ugly for Hart, BUT I do remember Pro-Bowl appearances in the mid-70's. ...And most of the Cardinal teams he played on flat-out stunk! You really are only as good as the people around you. I hear it every hall of fame speech. GO CARDS!
