Hall was placed on "injured/waivers"---if he is not claimed, he goes on the IR...according to Urban.

if nobody claims him -- the Cards can reach an injury settlement with and be done

The hate this guy gets on here is foul. He tried his ass off and was tough as nails. I wish him good luck.

This guy has always gotten the hate. They had websites dedicated to hating Max Hall in college. Alot of it is the Morman hate but mostly it is overacheiver kicked our tail hate. He has the Moxie and leadership down he just needs a real offensive line and a consistent running game to be successful in the NFL. Alot of 6 foot Qb worse than Max have been successful in the NFL but not behind the worst offensive line and worst running attack in the NFL.

Anyone that thinks he could have been more successful last season with that Offensive line and running game didn't pay attention. He would be a great 3rd Qb to run the practice team and I had hoped he would fill that role but Bartel will be good at that also and has a better arm.

It is interesting and it cuts both ways. Max Hall has gotten alot of benefit of the doubt beyond what his performance has warranted. Whether people overlook his weak arm because of his moxie, his college, the hometown thing, or whatever, I just don't get it.

It's funny because if you go on the Niners MB, there is this kind of back-and-forth on Alex Smith. I am sure Broncos fans are having the same debate over Tebow. I just think it boils down to this. It is really hard for fans of a college QB to admit that their guy just doesn't have what it takes to play at the next level. And there will always be people ready to say, "I told you so."

I like the kid personally. I just hated that he was on our team. I hope he has success in life, but I just don't want him wasting space on our roster anymore.

Wishing Max Hall the best and I hope he would give Arena Football a try, in that format his arm would be fine and he would be a very good QB

This isn't Pop Warner. I wish him luck too, but I don't want him on my team. He's not an NFL talent.

If that's hating then call me "hater".

Add me to that list.

Of course the "hater" post was a gross exaggeration. There hasn't been any hate for the guy on this thread at all.

I kept posting in other threads that Hall wasn't big enough for the NFL and needed to go before he got hurt. But he didn't go and now he's hurt again.

IR last year Injured/Waived this year.

How is a 3rd string guy that sets a nice practice tempo, is a fast study of the playbook, and trys to take it to the defense in practice, a waste of a roster space? He can fill that role really well. I just think Bartel would be better in a game situation( not by much though)than Hall but not in the role as a Qb running the taxi squad against our Defense. Hall is young, cheap, a fast study and local, that is why I think they are trying to keep him in some fasion.

Well said, Rats.

Urban is now posting that waiving and settling with Hall now is the only way they could have him play at some point this season, if and ever there was a need to re-sign him. That's pretty much it right there.

Disclaimer: I realize that I am probably coming off as a jerk concerning Hall. I haven't always chosen my words wisely in this thread. I am not trying to be contrarion or a hater. I am just really bored and this is an extremely interesting debate.

I meant to say that any injured 4th string QB is a waste of roster space when we have so many holes elsewhere.

That being said, it's pretty well documented that Hall has a weaker arm and struggles making some of the throws that NFL starters can make. How effective can he be simulating opposing offenses for our D? Do you think that does a disservice to our DB's as they try to prepare? Or do you think Hall made up for it in other areas when he pushed them?

A big difference between Hall and Tebow is that Tebow can probably play a couple other positions, whereas Hall cannot.

Good points made about him not being the CFL candidate that many of us immediately thought he might be (including me). I simply looked at his size, but that's deceiving. After all, Danny McManus was shorter, but heavier; Damon Allen was taller but lighter; Anthony Calvillo is about the same size. Those three have 10 Grey Cups between them.

It is just a good discussion. I don't think your coming off as a jerk at all. The NFL live action is fast paced and has constant movement on offense. The Defense needs to see alot of this in practice. Repetition and knowing how to set a tempo actually helps a Defense in practice. The 3 days I was at camp Hall did this better than any of the Qb. I felt he was auditioning to run the taxi squad. There is and was no diservice to the Defense in practice. And Duck you have to believe he really got injured in practice. What I witnessed outside of the red and white game( very minor contact and none on the Qb unless they took off running) would lead me to believe they are just trying to keep him since he was not eligible for the practice squad.

Unfortunately, that is the growing tendency of this board...and society.

Too much hate and not enough respect.

CKW said the same thing on the radio. The guys on KTAR are saying its like a 6 week timetable. Not sure where they got that info, though.

Again, where's the hate? It is a growing tendency of this board to translate a question about a players ability into hate. "He hasn't looked good so far" is taken to mean "I hate him, he sucks and will never be any good". I just don't get it.

Look I don't hate Max Hall or care how strong an arm the guy has or how fast he is or how he can run the scout team, he's not built right for the NFL and needs to go do something else before he can't walk when he's 40. We can't count on Levi Brown to score a TD every time the kid gets knocked senseless.

Doesn't his going on Injured Reserve last season and now being put on the Injured/Waived list mean anything to you guys?

Maybe, but I think we can count on Levi having a hand in every play where a QB is knocked senseless.

And that post is an example of another problem with this board. You post: "food costs are out of control. For instance Corn is now 4.69 a lb" Instead of getting a response about food cost all you get is:

I never liked Corn anyway.

As a hipster, I like corn, but only ironically. :p

Point taken.

Hall will probably be a pretty good coach someday. He has the makeup more of a coach than NFL QB.

I have the utmost respect for Max Hall. He had the tools to be a great college QB, not so much an NFL QB. His shortcoming is not a lack of heart.

That is the epitome of a "drive-by smart a$$ comment"

Believe you me, I know what those are when I see 'em.

JTS

I just watched the DVD about how you invented those, got sued, won, and made millions by suing drive by smart a$$ posters for trademark violations.

Really liked Jon Heder as you. He frickin' nailed it.

Also really liked Harrison Ford as Duckjake and Drew Barrymore as Jersey Girl.
